She would sacrifice her own life and happiness for that of her son's if she had to. She would still be living together for Arthur. But him cheating her, it was the one thing that she'd sworn to herself she would never allow to happen to her, that and a guy who hit her or abuse her. Well Glen had just broken one of the two biggest rules she had about relationships. God she felt such a loser for believing all those sweet words, why would he stay with the stupid Science Geek.
"How did it go?" Pippa asked her the moment she let Kate into her house, wrapping her arms around her friend. "It was hard." Kate admitted with a heavy sigh and shrug of her shoulders, following Pippa into the house where Kate was handed a glass of wine.
"Why does everything need to be so complicated all the time?" Kate sighed with a shake of her head, her hand supporting her jaw as she sat at the kitchen island. "You've had a busy year Kate, your privacy is pretty none existing, than Glen returns in your life, most people would be a bit overwhelmed." Pippa comforted her as Kate shrugged her shoulders, she had no idea what was going on with her and around her. Normally she was a lot stronger mentally, she'd shrug it all off and move on. But somehow, someway she was more emotional, maybe all the turmoil she felt about Glen had something to do with that.
"I don't know even why I'm feeling the way I do," Kate confessed with a defeated shrug of her shoulders and shake of her head, lifting the glass of wine to her lips.
"Like?" Pippa asked her as she sat down beside her on the kitchen island. "I love Glen more than I've every loved anyone. But our relationship in Greece may have been an illusion. We didn't have to worry about life there. I didn't have to work, he didn't have to work and we didn't have a son yet. Now it's all about work for both of us and then Arthur. He's barely home, I feel like I'm simply an afterthought to him." Kate confessed, normally she'd go to Catherine with this. Catherine was her best friend and they had a bond which even they couldn't explain. But she had a barely two-week-old son to deal with. But she couldn't keep closing it in herself, she was afraid of what it might do to her.
"And then there is this," Kate noted as she pulled out her phone and looked for the email she'd gotten. She hadn't shown it to anyone at all, she was scared of their reactions. But the fury in Pippa's eyes was immediate when she saw the picture of Glen kissing some stranger young girl, his arms around her.
"what do I do?" she asked Pippa as Kate burst out in tears as she finally let everything go and Pippa wrapped her arms around the women beside her. "I'd throw him out as fast as I could," Pippa told her as Kate started to cry harder. "I love him so much and I was already doubting us before that came in," Kate admitted as she cried harder and harder and why was she feeling so emotional. She knew the Depo shot could have that effect and she'd just renewed it last week but she hadn't felt like this with the last one.
"Talk to him," Pippa told her distraught friend as she rubbed her back up and down. "Don't take this the wrong way Kate but you've never been this out of control and so out of your own way," Pippa told her, Kate was the most put together, logical and smartest women any of them knew. She was the one who always had her head on straight no matter what. Right now though she seemed lost about everything.
"I want to get sloshed so bad Pippa," she told her with an empty chuckle as she looked at her friend. "That isn't the cure either," Pippa told her with a small chuckle as Kate sat upright and Pippa patted her arm in amusement. "Are you pregnant?" Pippa asked her friend. She knew how much more emotional she herself was now that she was pregnant. Maybe that was the reason why Kate was feeling so out of control as well.
"I'm on the depo shot Pippa," she told her with a shake of her head. "You're always the one reminding us that these things fail," Pippa told her in a serious tone. "I have a test upstairs come on," Pippa told her as Kate followed her up the stairs. "Could she be?" she thought to herself with a shake of herself. It hadn't even been a month since her last pregnancy scare. Jeez, this was so the last thing she needed right now to be pregnant when she was doubting her entire relationship with Glen. She knew she was being irrational and she knew that Glen would have to travel a lot when they got together. Yet here she was making a fuss about the entire thing.
"Here," Pippa told her as she handed Kate two tests, before leaving her alone for a split second. "Now we wait," she told Pippa as the two tests were laying on the vanity table. "I can't be pregnant," she told herself more than anyone else. But the more she thought about it, the more she realised that this was how she'd felt with Arthur. It had been tenfold at that time though the cause of what had happened.
"It's time," Pippa told her after Kate's mind had literally run away with her. Getting up with a big sigh she walked over to the vanity cabinet and looked down at the Clearblue tests. '3+ weeks.'
"No, no, no," she muttered to herself as she shook her head.
