New Hand To Hold

The day I dreaded the most

Had come to life so soon.

But I felt a certain peace

When I did what I need to do.

I loosened my grip

On your hand I held so long.

I looked away from your gaze

To not see how much you’re torn.

I turned my back

On that young love we called.

I said goodbye

To that boy I cherished the most.

And now, we stand here again,

Face to face, after so many years.

But now, it’s no longer my hand

That you are holding, dear.

No, I do not regret what I did

For I set you free from me.

I’m glad you’ve found the woman

That God made for you to be with.

Back then, we were so young

So easy to trust what we feel.

Thank God, He held me back,

Telling me to follow His will.

I’m glad I let Him lead

And gave Him all of me.

‘Cause just when I let you go

God gave me His hand to hold.

A/N: "Letting Go" is just a single poem before, and I did not originally intend to make it a collection. But since I got an idea for this poem that is also about letting a person go, I decided to just put it here. And by the grace of God, I'm hoping to create more poems that can fit here.
