lost battle
Care, attention and a soothing song
A cradle, toys and milk slightly warm
My hands entwined in hair brown and long.
Crazy days and memorable nights
Procrastination and then burning the midnight oil
Endless conversations under starry lights.
Busy days and hectic weeks
Demanding bosses and a much needed trip
Trying to ace adulthood but innocence still peeks.
Glasses, grey hair and a walking stick
Hues of dusk when nostalgia hits
Love laugh live, tick tick tick.
I did not want a different life
A normal one was perfectly fine
Of a daughter, a lover, a mom and a wife.
Then the dream shattered, leaving broken pieces.
It was a lost battle for survival, it wasn't needed.
Because I forgot I was a girl and with my birth, my existence ceases.
