Lollipops - Chapter 42

Start from the beginning

"Wait," Sirius concernedly interrupted. "Drew... he's really gone? You saw it happen?"

"Yes," she pitifully choked out.

Sirius latched onto her hand after casting her a deep, concern-filled look. Even though he didn't necessarily like Drew, his death came as a tragedy, especially since he died trying to fulfill a noble act.

"Mr. Black—the older one—and Ms. Serdeys, I feel that you two should get going, and take some time to process what's just happened. Meanwhile, I need to speak with you, Regulus,"

Sirius nodded in understanding, but Naomi stayed frozen in her chair.

"What's going to happen to Regulus?" She questioned in concern. "Will he have to go into hiding, since the Death Eaters will be after him for betraying them?"

Dumbledore hesitated before gravely admitting. "I'm afraid so."

Naomi harshly inhaled, and after casting Regulus a glance, she followed Sirius out of the room.

She was feeling numb, and she didn't really know where she was going, but Sirius was leading her somewhere. The only thing she could really understand was that Sirius was holding her hand, reunited with her once more. He provided her with a touch of warmth, slightly eliminating her feelings of pain and devastation.

Sirius stopped in front of a wall, and began to pace. Naomi was confused at first, but when a door appeared in front of the wall, she immediately knew that this was the Room of Requirement.

"Come on," Sirius softly murmured to her, taking her hand once more.

When they entered the room, she was utterly relieved to see a comfortable-looking couch and a fireplace. It was exactly what she needed, and she was grateful that Sirius knew that.

He lead her to the couch as they gently sat down, and his tornado grey eyes connected with her ocean blue ones.

"Naomi?" He asked.

He said her name, and that was all it took for her to become a blubbering mess.

Sirius didn't jump in shock at her tears, or awkwardly sit and watch her until she stopped. Instead, he protectively wrapped his arm around her and stayed silent. He planted a kiss on her head and remained in that exact, warming position, not stopping until her tears relatively ceased, but didn't quite stop.

"Naomi," he softly said to her. "This shouldn't have happened, and none of this was your fault."

She looked at him above her wet eyelashes. "But, wasn't it? I know it was the Inferi who dragged him in, but I can't help but think, if I hadn't come, would this have happened? Everything would have turned out differently if I had minded my own business and went to the Astronomy Tower with you."

"What? Naomi," Sirius grabbed Naomi's face and gently turned her face so she could see him. "None of this is your fault, I promise you. What you did today was brave; you did something that most others wouldn't even think about doing. You willingly went with Regulus and Drew, knowing what could've happened to you, and yet you still came in order to defend them; to help. I don't know if this is just survivor's guilt, but the one thing that I know damn well is that you were completely courageous tonight, and you can't be held accountable for something that you did not do."

Naomi blinked softly. That was the exact talk she needed to put her back into her senses.

"Okay," she whispered. "You're right."

Sirius nodded as he looked at her. When he stared at her, he felt a rush of affection and couldn't help but say to Naomi, as he held her in his arms.

"Merlin, I couldn't be more happy that you made it out of there without a single cut," he said relievedly.

She sighed and cast him a worn out smile.

"Oh, Sirius, I was supposed to inform you about this tonight; I'm cured of my cancer."

She said it so softly, that Sirius almost completely disregarded her sentence.

"Wait; what?" He asked with wide eyes.

She slightly giggled in response. Despite what had happened that night, she couldn't help but feel happiness with Sirius, even if the time wasn't right.

"Naomi, this is incredible; this is fantastic! When did this happen?" He stammered in pure delight.

"Just three days ago, I think. I was waiting for the right time to tell you," she anxiously admitted.

"Wow, Naomi, this is so good—this means you're going to survive!" He shouted in excitement.

She nodded frantically, laughing. "I know, Sirius!"

She didn't know if it was just the happiness of the moment, and Sirius was just getting caught up in the bliss of the moment, but he got up and twirled her around as she giggled, and then he said the three forsaken words that most girls dreamed about hearing from the one they loved the most.

"I love you." Sirius said.

The smile slipped off of Naomi's face. Her eyes slightly enlarged with shock, and her face went slightly dazed.

"What did you just say?" Naomi softly whispered to him.

"I love you, Naomi." Sirius repeated. "And this isn't just me getting mixed in with happiness of the moment; I've been feeling this way about you since the moment we first met on the Astronomy Tower. I've been holding it back because I didn't want to scare you, but I've always had these emotions for you that when I put them together, words can't explain it. I love the way your eyes crinkle whenever you smile at my lake jokes, and the way you twirl your hair before you tuck it behind your ear. I love it when you slightly blush before I kiss you, and I love the excited look you have on your face before you answer a question in class. I love every little thing about you; things that you don't even notice about yourself. And if I ever had the option to change any little thing about you, I would say no, because I love everything about you, inside and out. I love you, Naomi."

Naomi's eyes watered again as Sirius stared deeply into her eyes, and then she said the words back, with complete firmness and sincerity in her voice.

"I love you too, Sirius."
