The Red String

Chapter 3

Austin Ray's P.O.V

The bell rings and I head to my locker, slipping my wallet into my pocket and putting my english binders away. English is pretty boring, dont know how Juniper likes it so much.

"Hey, let's go, I found a private spot where we can hide from the fan girls" Mack leans on the locker next to mine and my heart cant help but speed up.

I quickly close my locker, trying so hard to see the red string....nothing. We head off and he takes me through a path to a small pond.

"Here we are glitter boy!" He spreads his arms out.

"Nice, but what should we do until 3 period?" I watch as he sits down, patting the grass next to mine.

"Well, I've been wondering who my soulmate is, she just has to be the most amazing girl I cant wait to meet her!" He keeps thinking it will be a girl, it could be a guy and to be honest his words kinda crush me a little.

"You'll only figure out when you see the red string" I mumble, hoping he would stop saying her because I know I love him more than anything.

"Or when I kiss her" he looks at me and sees that I'm just staring off.

"Everything okay?" He looks at me worried.

"Yep, everything is fine, but.....maybe our soulmates arnt even girls, they could be guys" I try to get the idea to stick in his mind,I look at him and hope to see him realize I like him.

He takes a moment to think.

It feels like hours waiting for this response, my heart is speeding up and my cheeks have a light pink shade to them.

"Yea, I guess" he looks at me with a small smile, my heart crushes

He doesnt realize.

"Who do you want your soulmate to be?" I look over at him curiously.

His face goes red and he looks away shyly.

"Of come on, it cant be that bad" I wanted to say I want him as my soulmate, but that could ruin everything.

"To be honest......Juniper" I cant help the tears that flow from my eyes, or the shock and hurt that's in my voice.

"You want Juniper as a soulmate? Why, she...she......shes a nothing" jealousy is clear in my voice but hes too shocked at my words to pick it up.

"A nothing? Is that what you think of your sister? She is far more of a Ray then you'll ever be!" Hes words come out as harsh.

"SHES NOT EVEN A RAY, SHES AN ORPHAN THAT MY PARENTS TOOK PITTY ON AND NOW SHE GETS ALL THIER FUCKING ATTENTION!" I didnt know what to think when across the clearing, hidden in the trees.

There I saw her, with her tear stained face, messy hair and deep green eyes. Juniper. Heard. Everything.

"Junie?" My voice came out as shaky when I stand and take a step forewards.

She shakes her head, running back towards the school.

"Why are you suddenly acting like this Austin, I dont understand" I didnt stay to hear him keep talking, I kept running after Juniper.

I didnt need mack of all people to lecture me about this. When I got to the school I couldn't see her anywhere, not even when I spotted Ivy. I look at the time and realize I have to go to class, the bell is going to ring soon.

I go to my locker, grabbing my binder and heading to Mrs, Ash's history class, another boring class. I cant help but watch the clock tick away, I cant help but worry about Juniper. I'm going to have to do alot of apolagizing when I get home.

"Mr, Ray, the office has a task for you to do, can you please head down to the main office"

I grab my stuff and leave the classroom, I head downstairs almost tripping on my way down I finally make my way to the office.

"Mr, Ray, we were wondering if you could help us organize some things for the upcoming summer fair" Mrs, Cunningwell beams at me, hoping for me to say yes.

"I'd be glad to help, I've actually had a few ideas for the setup for awhile now" a light pink spreads across my face, I give a small smile.

"Wonderfull! Absolutely fantastic!" She smiles and hands me a small notebook, ideas and plans filling most of the pages.

"These are ideas and booth's designed by the faculty, all you need to do is look through and make a few tweaks to make sure things are safe!" She points at a few things for me.

"You also have period 3 and 4 off so you can look through and tweak things" she looks at me in awe as she speaks.

"Alrightly, I'll take a look through, if you need to call me down for any other things I will be in the library Mrs, Cunningwell" I give her one of my heartwarming smiles.

I head out to the library, still really worried about Juniper. I sit down at a table at the back, laying out the notebook along with my own, looking through the faculty ideas and my own. After what seems like hours of searching through the ideas I hear the bell ring for 4th period class. I look and see Juniper pass by the library, she looks back to normal now with Ivy at her side. I look back down at my work and sigh, I'll have to wait for the end of the day, I cant make her late for class.

I continue to tweak some ideas and plan out what the fair will look like, it takes forever to get most of the ideas planned on where they will go. I let out a sigh of relief when I finally hear the bell ring, I quickly pack my things and go to my locker and stuff my things in my backpack.
