I woke up to the sound of the alarm on my cellphone. June specifically requested that HQ send me to assist in her investigation of Truesdale. On the ride to the office, trying to figure out for myself, the part where I fit into her assignment. I wasn't too thrilled about coming back home to New City and getting back to work this soon after my last assignment. Arriving at the office, with their monitor turned on as I took a seat, then June appeared on the screen.
'Nice of you to join us, Agent Wells.' said June.
'It's just another day at the office, let's just get through this briefing.' I said.
June smiled as if she was hiding something I wouldn't like and her answer will tell me that.
'You are being sent to investigate Truesdale, we need intel on what's going on in this city. Reports state that Mayor Clint and Vincent Sparks on the suspicion to commit terrorist acts to Truesdale. There is not enough evidence that will support our case from the federal government.'
'Two things I know about this already, this is a covert operation and there is no deadline to how long I will be in Truesdale, correct?'
'Both are facts, you are to keep Mayor Clint and Joe Maxwell alive. The Agency is going to indict Mayor Clint on the grounds of terrorism and you are going to allow Joe to lead you to the evidence without blowing your cover. As soon as we have that information you get out of Truesdale and then we move in on capturing them both.' June stated.
'So, you are asking me to perform the impossible with these two high-level targets?' I responded.
'To be very honest with you Trevor, I spoke against you going. You know as well as I know they will be watching both of us. They want something if these two need to be kept alive.'
'When do I leave?'
'Tonight, we have a safe house in Truesdale Heights where you will be monitoring the Police Station. I will be your point of contact. If anything compromises the mission you will leave Truesdale City immediately.'
'Any protocols that Truesdale has taken already?' I asked.
'No, key witnesses and suspects have been disappearing left and right. That's the reason why I'm on this mission with you. Due to the fact that we already know, it will be reluctant to send you in alone. Also, Joe is going to need all of our help.'
'So, we have a code red situation for Truesdale?'
'Yes. There is a car outside waiting to take you to Truesdale. We will brief you on your next objective.'
I went to my apartment to pack, I arrived at my apartment door to find a box that was placed there. An envelope with my name on it was placed on top of the box. I knelt down to pick up the envelope and box and went inside my apartment. I opened the envelope that contained pictures of everyone that I needed to investigate. Their names inscribed on the back. I opened the box to find an itinerary for going to Truesdale, a laptop, and a passport.
I went to my bedroom closet and started packing what I need for this mission. A text message from June came up on my cellphone.
TREVOR,
BE READY IN TEN. DRIVER WILL TAKE YOU TO TRUESDALE.
I packed the rest of my belongings and left out of my apartment. I initiated the automatic security and headed to the lobby. A black SUV pulled up at the front entrance. I left the lobby and opened the back door putting my belongings in first and then sitting, I closed the door. The car pulled off and onto the highway headed towards Truesdale.
