Not Just A Game

4) How It Started

-Grace / Photoshoot-

"Over here Grace. Perfect!" the photographer said to me. After a few more pictures we finally finish the photoshoot.

"Great job today Grace we got amazing shots of you. We will finalize the pictures and choose the best ones then we'll get your ok and they should be viral soon." One of the workers told me.

"Ok thank you!" I said as i made my way out the door.

"Ready to go home sweetie?" My mom asked as I entered the car.

"Yes please."

The drive to my house was pretty quiet which is what I wanted because I am tired. I slowly drifted to sleep to replay by Zendaya.

"We're home baby girl." My mom gently shook me.

"Hmm." I groaned.

"Come on your father says he has a surprise waiting for you guys." my mom pursueded me.

"Ok I'm up." I said as I jumped out of my car and grabbed all of my stuff as I waited by the door. "Mom come on!"

"I'm coming honey calm down."

I'm excited right now what could it be? New volleyball knee pads? Cheer shoes? Dancing bag? There's so many possibilites and honestly I'm excited!

My mom unlocked the door and I pushed inside.

"Dad!" I yelled as I entered the house.

"Grace. Quiet down you might wake up the neighbors." My mom snapped.

"I'm sorry mom I'm just excited! I wanna know what it is." I told my mom.

"What's all the yelling about?" My dad's said as he walked in the room.

"What's the surprise?!" I run towards my dad.

"Oh you didn't tell her." My dad asked my mom.

"No I thought you wanted to." My mom responds.

"I'll just show you kiddo." My dad said as he covered my eyes.

"Okay I'm excited." I smiled.

My dad lead me somewhere until he stopped.

"Ok ready?"

"Yup!"

"Surprise."

I look around too see something exciting but instead I see a box of some sort.

"Is that it?" I asked trying not to sound to disappointed.

"Yeah! It's a xbox 360!" My dad smiled. "You like it?"

I looked over at my dad looking at how excited he was for my answer.

"Uh yea it's cool I just don't know how to use it." I answered as truthfully as I could without saying it's a total piece of shit buy me something else. Cause I don't say those kind of things.

"Well your brother should know how and I thought it was a good way for the whole family to bond." My dad said.

"Oh well I bet it will bring us closer." I smiled.

"I know right! I'm glad you like it honey it had quite a price tag."

"How much is it?"

"600"

I almost chock on air. "What ? That much for this!" I asked surprised.

"Yea it's the newest one that came with the kinect, 2 controller and has a hard drive of 4GB plus I bought 3 games and I got a headset as xbox live for you guys to share it's 1 year so it was $59.99 so yea that sums it all up." He says proudly.

There is so much other stuff he could have bought with that money but I don't want to hurt his feelings so I'll play along for his sake.

"Can't wait to use it dad." I smiled.

"Same here honey. I'm excited to use Netflix and watch on YouTube on the tv. It's going to do so much for this family trust me ." He said as he hugged me.

"I think so too." I half lie.

"Ok good night sweetie I'll see you tomorrow." My dad said a she headed towards the stairs.

"Ok night." I answered back.

I crouched down at the device and began to study it. It didn't look that special. I've never been a video game person but then again I've never played video games.

"You better be worth that money." I said as I got up and walked upstairs.

I did everything I usually do before bed like brush my teeth and changed my clothes. Then I got into bed. Please let the Xbox be worth something. I said in my mind before I drifted off into sleep.
