Percy's POV
After the war I needed to get a job, not because I wanted one but because Annabeth told me I should, and nobody wanted to hire me because of my reputation around the area. I was bummed out because I had been looking for almost two weeks and nobody wanted me- except for this restaurant that served seafood and kept the animals in a tank and I just couldn't work there because I felt so bad for them and I would probably end up stealing them and setting them free.
I accidentally bumped into someone spilling their coffee all over their nice suit.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I wasnt looking where I was going and-" he cut me off.
"Its fine kid. I can just drive home and get a new one. No worries, are you ok though? You looked pretty out of it." He asked seeming more worried about me than his expensive looking suit.
Shocked, I responded," Yeah I'm fine, just bummed because cause I cant find a job. Been looking for almost two weeks." I stared at him, he looked familiar.
He was just a bit taller than me, maybe by an inch or so. He had short, brown hair that he slicked back and had a brown and kinda grey goatee. His eyes were covered up by sunglasses that had rose colored lenses so I couldn't see his exact eye color. His suit was light gray with a big brown spot splattered all over the front of the tux.
"Hey kid," he got my attention by snapping his fingers on my face," You sure you're ok? You looked really out of it."
"Yeah I'm fine just you look familiar." I told him
He looked suprised, "You dont know who I am?" He sounded shocked
"Am I supposed to?" This was getting a little awkward.
"I'm Tony Stark! You know, Ironman!?" He asked me like it would remind me or something
"Never heard of him, I mean you." I responded wanting to just go home.
His eyes were wide and he gave me a business card,"You said you were looking for a job and I have plenty of spots open. It helps that you dont know who I am so I know you wont bring people over or try to sell my stuff for money. Give me a call and I'll send you some paperwork and we'll work from there."
I took the card and read it before putting it in my jacket pocket. I looked up and he was gone. This was going to be interesting.
. . .
I walked home back to Annabeth sitting in the living room playing with my little sister and my mom cooking dinner. I walked into the kitchen and stuck my finger in the soup my mom was making and licked my finger before she playfully smacked my head.
"At least wait until I'm not looking." She laughed and I kissed her cheek before walking back out to the living room and sitting down with Annabeth .
"Any luck today?" She asked after kissing me.
"Yes actually, I bummed into this guy and accidentally spilled his coffee all over him. We talked for a but then when he found out I didnt know who he was he gave me a business card and offered me a job." I told her.
"Who was he?" She asked
"Some guy named Toby Snark?" I said unsure if I got the names right.
"Wait, Tony Stark!?" Annabeth asked really excited.
"That was it!" I replied smiling at her excitement.
"You cant pass up this job! He is such an inspiration. His designs are amazing!" She basically shouted. If Wise Girl knew who he was then I definitely disnt want to pass up this job. This day just got a whole bunch more interesting
