an hour later she returned with a sleep but excited Arthur as he put himself at Glen's side as they unpacked his stuff as it joined theirs. It wasn't just pictures of her last five years anymore. No, it was pictures of Glen's life as well. Not so many of the three of them together yet. But they were convinced that they would be adding more and more of those soon.
"You need some help?" Glen asked her as Kate was rumbling around the kitchen to make dinner for the ten odd people in her house. "I'm fine Love," she reassured him as she let out a tired sigh. She didn't really deserve to be as tired as she felt since the guys had been dragging boxes around all day. She'd simply had lunch with her friends, had a dress fitting and then drove, not that exhausting. But she still felt the exhaustion of the flu in her though.
"Is your suit getting ready?" she asked him, looking over her shoulder at him. "Yes, William gave me the number the first dinner we had with them," Glen told her as she nodded her head. "Do you have any more fittings?" she asked him as he nodded his head. "The week before the wedding," he told her as she nodded her head.
"You have a dress?" he wondered, he hadn't really heard her talking about it much if he thought back to it. "Yes I had my fitting for the wedding and the party in the evening today," she told him with a small smile on her face as she turned around in his arms, wrapping hers around his neck.
"I can't wait to see you in them." he grinned down at her as he kissed her lips. "I think you'll like the one for the evening more," she told him with a cheeky grin. It wasn't as formal as the wedding and they could get away with doing a bit more risky stuff. Her dress had a pretty high slit for example. She knew Eugenie's had a deep cut in the front so it was all a bit riskier.
"Is that so?" he grinned, trying to imagine what her dress would look like as she nodded her head. "Oh yes." she grinned as she heard Mark behind her say. "Can't keep your hands off of her can you Power."
"I have to miss him enough when he's gone," Kate told him, looking over her shoulder at him. "I think the feelings mutual, he's a miserable sod when he's on tour." Mark teased his friend as Glen flipped him the bird over his shoulder. "Okay boys try to get along," she told them with an amused tone as she finished making dinner for everyone.
****
On Sunday evening it was back to saying goodbye. They'd had two weeks together. Not really the best ones if she thought back to it. She'd been ill and working in the first one and the second one it had been moving and working in her case. She'd rather spend their time, what little they had together in another way.
As she put a tearful Arthur in bed after Glen had left she couldn't help but look around her living room. It wasn't just her living room anymore, there was her and Arthur's stuff. The stuff that had always been there, the throw pillows and blankets in the couch. All the pictures on the wall, her journals and magazine are on the side table on the couch. The candles all around. Arthur's corner and his little desk with his books and stuff and toys. But now there were Glen's things lying around as well. A hoodie threw over the back of the couch. Pictures of him were hanging around as well.
his magazines were on another side table behind the couch. She noticed his sneakers underneath the coffee table. In such a short time so many things had changed. Things she'd tried to prevent her from imagining were here and they weren't her imaginations. No, his stuff was really there, she could smell his familiar aftershave or Armani hanging in the air. Picking up his hoodie, she pulled it on as she took a book from her bookcase and poured herself a glass of wine, before going to sit on the porch outside.
She knew it was his work, but sometimes she wished he could be a bit more home. In the time that they had reunited, he'd been more gone than home with her. It was selfish of her to think of her alone and of her son. But she wasn't a fan of his, she was his girlfriend. She had to miss his company in the evenings, his arms around her as they slept or snuggled on the couch. Even the annoying habit of him leaving his stuff everywhere. She wished she could notice something, sigh and put it in his place for him to come and ask her where she'd put it. They'd already established such a routine and right now she missed him just being beside her.
