Chapter 21

She returned back home four hours later, feeling like she'd used all the energy she had. But their day wasn't ruined by it as Glen, Arthur and Kate cuddled together on the couch watching movie. Luke was spending the day with friends of his so, all in all, it wasn't a lost day. It was more successful than if they had gone somewhere, it was what they needed. Stay at home whilst the wind blew outside, movies on the TV as Kate and Arthur got to cuddle up with Glen.

And there was the fact that they had to be mindful of what they did during their week as well. Kate and Glen wanted to keep them, what they had a secret for a little while longer, that was however impossible if they were to flaunt their relationship around. both her and Glen were private people, the interest in Kate was already gigantic and she didn't feel like getting even more attention. And Glen to was more of a private guy, yes he was the most loose tongued to his fans and shared most of the three. But he hadn't wrapped a word about what they had at all and she loved that. They wanted to just be together, they wanted a relaxed day in front of the fireplace with the people she loved.

And there was the fact that the flu still hung in her body, she wasn't feeling as up to doing things either as she usually did. But it didn't stop them from enjoying each other. This was all she needed, her son and her boyfriend, nothing else.

When they returned to London on Saturday morning it was another important day for them. Kate and Glen were going to re-register Arthur's birth and change his last name from Stevens to Power. It felt like the right thing to do after all and Glen couldn't wait to have it finalised.

"Why are you nervous?" Kate asked Glen as they drove towards the city hall of Chelsea. She wanted to know why on earth he'd be nervous about this. Arthur had accepted him completely. They were a couple and going great. This was no different to them going to register him when he'd been born.

"I'm just excited about finalising this you know." He told her with a wide grin and she couldn't help but smile back at him, whilst nodding her head at him. "I'm sorry that I didn't push more when I had the chance. Maybe if I'd called a few more times and you answered instead of someone else," she noted as she parked the car before dropping her head on the steering wheel. It was a thought that had been bugging her for a while now, if she'd tried harder. She couldn't help it, so much had been taken from them by one man's decision, by one man's greed, she couldn't help but think though that she hadn't tried enough.

"Love you did all you could. George made sure that whenever you called everyone would put you through to him. You couldn't have known." Glen reassured her as he cupped her cheek in his hand and she leant into his touch as she shook her head a little. "We could have had so much, we could have been together." she told him as she closed her eyes for a split second.

"You did all you could sweetheart. We can only move forward," he told her, dropping his head against hers, knowing how this could make someone feel. He'd felt the same guilt about having picked the phone up once. What if he'd been the one to pick up the phone once instead of one of the crew. The what if? were driving them crazy, but they had to move forward from them.

"I guess so." she sighed, pecking his lips as they got out of the car and headed inside. It took them only 15 minutes for them to get his birth re-registered and then it was all changed. Glen was the official dad of now Arthur William Joseph Power instead of Stevens. He'd been touched to find out that she'd put one of his names into his son's name.

"Now how about we go and celebrate your new fatherhood." Kate grinned at him with a cheeky grin seeing as Pippa had asked to babysit. "I need some practice." she'd said when Kate had dropped Arthur off at Pippa's five houses over from hers.

"Well, Pippa is babysitting Arthur. We could go and have some lunch." he agreed, wrapping his arms around her waist as they paused at her car with a tilt of her head. "What do you say?" he asked her, dropping her head against his as she nodded her head.
