 Chapter 2

Jack panicked even more as he rolled around in the boot of the car, an unsteady journey towards their destination did not help his panic attack, until he finally felt the car stop. Involuntarily he flew forward slamming his knee into the boots corner as bruise forming as he yelped out in pain. As the car pulled to a final halt and the engine turned off he wasn’t sure whether to be relived or more worried. Finally after what seemed an eternity he heard the car doors open and the two heavy pairs of feet land on the ground.  Among their muffled voices another appeared and as much as the dialect could not be heard, the voices could be separated. He knew of the two men whom had stolen him( Well he assumed men) but another voice, a lot less rough could now be heard. Was this his ‘buyer’ He had heard this voice before it was familiar but couldn’t quite work it out. “Have you got the money?” Asked Dave tapping his foot on the ground and tensing his muscles on his arms which seemed to be the only place he had them. As his partner came and stood beside him. Trying to make them seem as tough as possible they both gave a narrow stare towards the man stood in front of them.

“Have you got the boy?” the voice echoed down a small alley way behind him it rattled off the bins and bounced back towards the men. It made him seem almost powerful, like he owned the shadows around him and they carried his words for him.

“Yeah he’s in the boot, now give us the money” Dave said shakily, although keeping his stance he pointed at the boot of the car with his thumb to make it seem casual. The slender man handed them the money and swept his hand away as soon as a single chubby finger laid on the first $20, he took two strides before laying a hand on the open button of the boot. The men behind him stood scrambling to count the money looking like rats who were fighting over the last bit of cheese. Pathetic. He thought in his head just as he pressed lightly into the button to automatically lift the boot lid. His eyes first caught sight of the staff lying beside Jack; Whom was still in the bag. He picked up the staff but as soon as he did he felt the ice melt away and it became an average stick in his hand it would only ever obey Jack. Just as he walked away for a moment to examine the staff and ask the men how they managed it, he heard hard breaths and a panicked, light breathed  “help” come from the sack. He suddenly turned around to see the sack moving as Jack breathed heavily.

“YOU IMBOSILES, GET HIM OUT AT ONCE, I TOLD YOU I WANTED HIM UNHARMED” The voice seemed to barrel across the street and come back around to hit the men on the heads with a sledge hammer. They suddenly stood up straight and stumbled towards to sack to cut it open and release the boy. Jack spilled out onto the floor as he tumbled out of the sack. As soon as the knife had hit the fabric his body forced itself out. Soon on his knees, breathing hard, his eyes adjusting to the single street light that seemed to be bearing down on him at that exact moment, he looked up and his eyes sorted the shows from light and he soon saw a figure, slender and easily recognisable. He stood looking almost concerned at Jack gasping on the floor with his eyes pointing upwards but his head still facing the ground. How dare he have sympathy for me if this was his doing I would have the pleasure of defeating him myself, if I had my staff, Jack thought but as he began to look for his staff he saw its pale brown colour, without  the frost intertwining between the wood, In Pitch Blacks hands.

The two men grabbed Jack by his arms and brought them behind his back. He was beginning to breath normally again by now, Pitches hand reached out to touch his face. Jack flinched and moved his head as far away as possible but with the two hefty men clinging to his arms Pitch could still touch his face and wove a finger around his jaw line, he pulled back his hand as if it had cut him. Pitch breathed a sigh of relief as he saw Jack quickly recover, he then drew his attention to the two men either side of Jack.

“GO, and hope that you never see me again.” He scowled and looked back at Jack as the two men dropped his arms and shuffled as fast as they could back towards the car. Jack  heard the doors close and the red lights brighten the alley way he flinched when the car pulled away around the corner, hopefully never to be seen again. He looked straight into Pitches eyes wondering how in hell was he here. Pitch smiled at Jack whom was still weak at the knees. He watched his mouth move in wonder as he tried to get his first words out.

“Ho-how are you h-here?” Jack tilted his head slightly as his mouth  remained open while he looked at pitch.

“ Well, I was trapped in my lair weakened for weeks; alone, until I looked at my globe and saw a sparkling golden light then another and another. From there I found out that some people do still believe in me. People that have darkness inside of them.”  Replied Pitch with a smirk he then turned his back on Jack and started to walk away into the pure black alley.

“Why?- wait-where are you going?- what are you doing? Give me back my staff!” Jack  winced when he said these words the pain had reached another level, he tried to walk and he felt the bruise on his knee, yet  Pitch continued to walk into the alley. Jacks had to follow his voice as it echoed, he couldn’t be without his staff and had to follow Pitch, so he strode through the pain walking cautiously towards where Pitch had disappeared.

“Maybe you should come and find out” Pitch carried on walking into a dark alley where he soon could not be seen. Jack had no choice but to follow although he was nothing without his staff. He saw Pitch had been covered in the silk of the shadows and as Jack stepped further into the alley untill he too was eaten by the darkness.
