After an eternity of a car ride, we finally arrive at a hotel.
"Why exactly have we come here?"
"Well, there are other protectors that want to meet you. And since you still haven't figured out your powers, we have to help you with that department. Believe me, it's very entertaining," She says.
"Um... whatever. I need to take a long nap," I say yawning.
"Not before you meet everyone and you sleep a lot." She teases me.
"We'll see about that, and I don't sleep a lot," I say as we make our way to our room.
"There are seven members, including you and me, and you booked only one room. Are you serious?!" I ask.
"It's not like we will stay there forever. We are leaving tonight." She says.
"Wait, there are seven people, right? Then why did you only come to 'save me," I ask
"They were feeling a bit lazy," She says.
"Oh, glad to know my life isn't that important," I say sarcastically.
We open the door and quickly slip inside. In front of me stood one girl and four boys. I feel kind of awkward because I suck at anything that comes to social interaction.
I want to get over the introduction part already. I smile as I introduce myself.
"Hello, my name is Kristen. I'm 16 years old, and this mysterious girl officially kidnapped me." I say, pointing at Lexi. I know she's not a mysterious girl anymore, but what's wrong in adding a bit of humor.
"Hey! Last time I checked, I didn't kidnap you. I have you from those monsters that were invading your school. So be a bit thankful, girl." She playfully snaps, glaring at me. The others chuckle at our immature behavior.
"Hey! My name's Kaitlyn. I love to dance," The girl with brown hair and hazel eyes says, smiling warmly at me.
"My name's Liam. I am dragged into this stuff just like you, by her." He says, pointing at Lexi and shrugging. He has dirty blond hair and gray eyes.
"You were just carelessly wasting away your powers and brought unwanted attention to yourself. So yeah, it's me that got all of you dragged in." She huffs out in annoyance.
"I'm Asher. She spoiled my life too." The guy with brown hair and blue eyes says, trying to keep a scowling face.
"I swear if you say that once more, then I'll rip your head off," He rolls his eyes at her.
"I'm Carl," He says, smiling slightly. I think he is the silent one of this gang.
"After so many boring introductions, the most amusing Reece gets to introduce himself," He says, showing off his teeth.
I roll my eyes at him and smile at him.
"Okay, so I guess that since the intro part is over. I'm heading to bed." I say as I plop myself at the bed and dose off.
"Gosh! She is a sound sleeper," I hear someone mumble.
"Awe... what a shame, she will miss this delicious delicacy of pepperoni pizza," On hearing this, I shoot out of bed and look around... not so discreetly for the pizza. But when I didn't find any, I knew that these dimwits are playing with me.
"Where is the pizza?" I ask in annoyance.
"There is no pizza... now is there?" Asher asks Lexi with a thoughtful look.
I glance at the table and find Lexi's wallet lying peacefully and calling out to me.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk... You guys made a mistake by playing with my food and me," I say as I take the wallet.
"Listen up, everyone. Since you guys think it is funny to wake me up, which I observe is Lexi's plan. We will all have a treat of pizzas." I say, smirking as I take out the money.
"Hey, that's not fair! You can't do this. I've worked hard for the money. Give me back my money." She says, fake fuming.
"I'll tell you guys one secret..."
"Oh, secret! I love secrets!" Reece interrupts me. I smile at him and continue my tiny little secret.
"Like I was saying before I got rudely interrupted by a certain person," I say, looking at Reece.
"You should never mess with my sleep and my junk foods. If you do, you must pay double the price. But since I'm so kind, I will give you a pizza treat." I say, putting the money back in the wallet.
"Good, I'm so hungry," Kaitlyn says, patting her tummy. We all buy pizzas and sit down to watch a movie. The movie got over, and it is already half past 8 in the evening.
"What are we going to do now?" I ask with boredom.
"Um... I do not know," Kaitlyn says.
"Maybe go for a drive," Asks Asher.
"We can listen to stories from grandma Lexi," Suggests Reece.
"Nah, grandma Lexi will start telling stories about her diaper days," I say in a disapproving tone. Reece and I look at each other and burst out laughing.
"Why do you guys keep dragging my poor self into you're not so worthy jokes?" She asks, fuming.
"Ah.... but the jokes are worthy because it's staring at Grandma Lexi," Liam says, pouting.
But I feel guilty. Here I am laughing when my best friend is dead, and I do not know about my parents.
"Um... guys, when will I get home?" They all look at each other uneasily, and then at me.
"Why are you guys looking like that?! If I don't get home early, my parents will kill me. I've never gone out with friends!" I exclaim.
Yeah, call me whatever you want, but I value my parent's decision. My society is not that safe.
"Well, we're not yet sure if you can go back to your parents," Liam says, avoiding my gaze.
"What do you guys mean? Why can't I go home?" I ask, feeling confused.
"Look, we can't tell you anything, right now. Got it? And we need to leave," Carl says, and with that darkness engulfs me.
