"Oh come on, Hyung! Pleeease!" Kai was obviously trying his best shot at doing aegyo.
"I'm busy." Kyungsoo's eyes were fixed on his laptop, doing research about apartments in Seoul.
"Please, Hyung! One last favor before you leave for college."
Kyungsoo closed is laptop and let out a deep sigh. "What do you want, Kai?"
A satisfied grin formed on Kai's lips as he leaned back on his chair. He was back from aegyo to his usual sex-god stance. "You know I can't cook in any sort right?"
Kyungsoo just stared at him never blinking even once.
"Hyung, I am confessing to someone tomorrow." Kai was playing with the froth from his cappuccino with a spoon. " And I'm going sweet this time. You make the best cupcakes, Hyung. No store does it better than you do."
Kyungsoo felt a huge lump on his throat. Seems to him like there was a huge blow upon his chest. He tried hard to control his breathing. No words came out from his heart-shaped lips.
"Hyung?" Kai leaned forward. "So... are you gonna do it?"
The older boy just nodded.
"Sweet." Kai stood up, took out his wallet and handed out pieces of paper bills to his hyung. He dropped a few more on top of the table. "Thanks, Hyung! See you later. I gotta go."
Kai dashed out the coffee shop leaving his hyung staring at a half-empty Americano. He picked up the cup and finished it up in one gulp, stood up, fixed his stuff and dropped a few paper bills near the one's Kai left a while ago. He was not sure if the palpitation he feel in his heart was from the strong, black coffee or from the words his bronzed-skin best friend said. Hyung, I am confessing to someone tomorrow. He was never annoyed by himself more than he is now.
Kyungsoo's hand were full of paper bags as he went out of baking store. He shopped for ingredients for Kai's cupcakes. Could it be Sehun? Kai met Sehun at dance club and the two instantly clicked. Or maybe Chanyeol. Park Chanyeol is the tallest in Kai's class. Everyone says he has a huge crush on Kai.
Kyungsoo sighed. Whoever that person is, he would gladly trade places with him. If only.
That night, Kyungsoo was too disturbed to focus on baking. He forgot to put in certain ingredients, overmix the batter, drop spoons and accidentally put on too much or too little of something. He dropped his hands on the kitchen counter and bowed down in frustration.
He remembered the first time he met Kai at school. He was two years younger. Kyungsoo was a member of the student council and each freshman was assigned a senior to guide them around school. He was paired up with this attractive, hyper boy whom he felt at ease right away. The two was of opposite poles. Kai was more confident and charismatic meanwhile, Kyungsoo is more reserved and introverted. This didn't stop their friendship from budding. Kyungsoo tutors Kai in subjects he was almost failing while Kai takes Kyungsoo on spontaneous trips during weekends and even late at night. He remembers those times he would wake up annoyed early in the morning because Kai jumps up and down his bed forcing him to go jogging with him; those times Kai would sneak on his bedroom window late at night to scare him and most of the time, he just wanted Kyungsoo to accompany him to 7/11 for a Slurpee. Especially those times he would cook for Kai because he would live off instant Ramen and friend chicken everyday whenever his parents are not around. Because of Kai, Kyungsoo made more friends at school. Kai taught Kyungsoo to become more carefree and let his guard down. Everytime he is with the younger boy, he looks forward for more new things and he is never disappointed. Somehow, Kyungsoo noticed how his boring routines and gloomy afternoons were changing. This made him realize how much he needed Kai in his every day; how much he is in love his best friend.
