"Would you want to be on your own?" Jimin continues the challenge.

"If I was as shitty a person as him, I'm sure I might prefer it."

Jimin scoffs, because he can't help it. Jungkook is simply lacking empathy, and as much as he understands the why he can't understand the how. He's explaining his position reasonably. "Take what I'm saying seriously, please."

It's been a really long time since he's wanted to get away from Jimin. Jungkook can't even remember the feeling of it, honestly. He couldn't until Jimin began making him feel lesser than. Lesser than his own desires, his own beliefs. Lesser than anything that might ensure them a happy future. "Really? I have been taking this seriously. You're the one that refuses to think of how this request might be making me feel."

Jimin purses his lips, watching the other carefully. He's not really sure if he should continue this battle or not, but Jungkook started it after all. They may as well get down to the bottom of it. They're both strong enough to stay until it's over at least, he's sure of that much. "So tell me then. How does it make you feel?"

"Afraid." The younger says, letting silence follow his reply. Just for a moment, he frees his fear into the space between them. "Alone. Incompetent."

Jimin swallows the lump growing in his throat now. "Why would you feel any of those things?"

What a stupid question. Jungkook doesn't want to explain, he wants Jimin to know. He wants Jimin to see straight through him. "I'm afraid to see him, Jimin, because I don't know what that could mean to him." He lowers his head, hands twisting together. "I'm afraid of what it means for us."

"Jungkook-"

"I feel alone because you're not in my corner right now. I feel incompetent because it's as if everything I've said to you thus far hasn't been enough to make you feel confident in moving forward with me. You need something else." It's the truth. It's how he's feeling, and it comes out in a mess, just the way everything always becomes when they aren't on the same page, when they aren't a team.

"It's not like that, Jungkook."

"What's it like, then? It seems like my words aren't everything you need to hear. Do you need something from him, or are you really just trying to give him some kind of peace of mind you ridiculously believe he deserves?"

Jimin's brows furrow together, his pout returning. "You can make your point without being insulting."

Jungkook shrugs now, his voice a bit shrill when he corners the other with his words. "Why? I feel insulted myself."

It's beginning to reach a point of no return, Jimin can feel it. The air surrounding them is heavy with the weight of the past and the bad decisions that followed tragedy. "What do you feel insulted about?"

"I just explained it to you. Where is your head, Jimin?"

Jimin huffs. He's almost given up, but he's reminded of the sliver of kindness Jungkook once showed Yugyeom. "Where is yours? You know, once upon a time this guy you hate so much now was your friend. You cared about him. I also know what you told him, when he was texting you from my phone. You said you would try to help him."

"I fucking lied, idiot. I wanted you to be safe and he was completely unstable. So I lied, are you really holding that against me now?" Jungkook tenses. "How can you bring that up when it was before I even knew what he did to you?"

Jimin shrugs, returning to his balled up position. "I'm sorry, but I really think he needs help."

"I think you're failing to comprehend the danger in what you're intending to do. I think it's really, really stupid."
