That night, I decided to do some investigating on the internet and what I found was something that was so gruesome and disturbing that even Max ran away. I called my brother to come quickly up to my room and as he read the article, he faced turned as white as snow.

The article read:

"On October 3, 1878, Mr. James Cavalry and his wife Martha were brutally murdered and dismembered in their home on 180 Cedar Drive. They were discovered by their house maiden Ida earlier that morning. Ms. Ida reported seeing blood splattered on the front entrance, the kitchen floor, and a large trail of blood leading to the basement. When she went down there, she found Mr. Cavalry severed head on a wooden table with his eyes missing. (The rest of his body was later recovered in the ocean by local fishermen).

Ms. Monroe then stated that as she walked further into the basement she found the brutally beaten body of Mrs. Cavalry. She had with multiple stab wounds to her chest and arms. Her fingers and toes were missing. No arrests were made at the time of the police investigation and eventually, the case went cold. Rumors of strange noises and screams have been heard from previous residents.

In 1988, real estate developer Peter Molinski and his wife Carol bought the house on Cedar Drive and restored it in order to attract new incoming residents. However, with low demand and fear of the house's mysterious history, most residents refuse to live there. Mr. Molinski has been summoned by the Municipal Court numerous times to close occupancy on the house and sell it to the Historic Old City Foundation for preservation." - (The Old City Chronicle)

"Oh my Gosh!" My brother whispered after he finished reading the article. The lights flickered and then everything went black.

"What's going on! This is all your fault Scarlet! The article was probably a sign from the spirits!" My brother panicked clinging to my arm.

"Hey! I thought you were supposed to be the courageous older brother who isn't afraid of anything! I guess I was wrong, loser!" I laughed playing lightly punching Frank's shoulder.

When the lights came on the computer screen remained black and written in blood were the words "SAVE ME!" Frank and I jumped back and fell to the floor in horror. That night we slept in the TV room with the lights on. As two more weeks past, we did not see or hear any strange things. My parents were still oblivious to the situation and refused to believe our story.

From that point on, we became very aware of every sound and movement in the house and continued to research the mysterious events that occurred in 1878. As I delve into my research, I become more interested in the initial investigation of the case. I discovered that the police recovered a stained note inside Mr. Cavalry room, underneath his bed. However, they had misplaced it during crime scene cleanup. It had never been found...until now.

I learned that Mr. and Mrs. Cavalry had a son who had an estranged daughter named Gloria, who lived in Georgia with her aunt. Frank had found out that Mr. Cavalry was a former slave owner and employed his former slave Ida, as a maid after the war. It was reported that although he had a small plantation, he was a very kind man and treated his slaves better than most plantation owners during that time.

After the abolition of slavery in 1865, he and his wife decided to destroy the plantation and build onto their property. They built a small cottage for Ida so that she would have a place of her own. Ida grew very close with Mr. and Mrs. Cavalry until their fateful day in October of 1878...
