If you're a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, oh this one is for you...*drum rolls please*..
Okay! I'll admit, I NEEDED to read this book after I discovered that:
a) Kiersten White wrote it.
b) It has 2 badass female leads &
c) It has references to Buffy the Vampire Slayer (*sighs* boy does that bring back memories) ....so essentially it was everything I never knew I wanted but needed and you know what? knocks over a stand I'm not even surprised. Ever since the Paranormalcy trilogy, she has never failed to reel me into another adventure.

Okay BACK to topic. Book one of this new trilogy (ugh waiting for book 2 is going to be a killer). Is set in a castle where students are trained to be watchers (essentially trainers for Slayers). The red headed protagonist twins, Artemis and Nina (short for Athena) also attend Watcher's Academy but where Artemis is training to be a watcher like the others, Nina is practicing to be a medic.
Their mother, a council member for the Academy, seems to always prefer Artemis and push her to be a great watcher while belittling Nina and encouraging her to stick to the books. Magic no longer exists due to Buffy but from a weird turn of events Nina, who once stood in the shadows, finds herself to be a Slayer! Not just any slayer, but the LAST slayer. Girllll get it!!!

Struggling to balance and enhance her new-found abilities while balancing her relationship with her sister, dealing with an old enemy and a visit from an old crush; Nina has a lot on her plate. So if you love drama (and I'm sure you do, don't even deny it) there's a lot of tea on that plate waiting to be spilt.

Add a dash of crazy monsters: monsters that eat emotions, ones that kill you from within your dreams, hellhounds and blood thirsty vampires. You're in for a crazy ride especially when you reach that crazy grand reveal at the end that makes you go back flipping pages. Overall, loved the dialogue, loved the book cover, loved the diversity in characters, and loved both the heroines.
I'd tell you folks to go purchase the physical book copy or e-book copy but cackles evilly it's not out yet for you mundane fellers' BUT it shall be on January 8th, 2019 so be sure to add this to your reading list and check it out!
