The Only Exception

Chapter Two

We arrived at our destination about 15 minutes later. Tonight, they were preforming in St. Louis, Missouri at the Edwards Jones Dome. I grabbed my phone just as William opened my car door. We walked inside and examined the arena at which they were performing at tonight. I greeted and hugged the boys and then sat down in a seat backstage as they performed the soundcheck. I scrolled through the latest tweets before I heard familiar male voices coming towards me...but I didn't think anything of it, I thought it was just stage crew or something so I kept scrolling through some tweets until I heard someone call my name.

I looked over and saw a dark haired male heading in my direction. "Nina!" 

"Calum?" He ran over and hugged me as I hugged him back. 

"What are you doing here?! I mean, I thought you guys couldn't make the show tonight?" I said into his shoulder as we hugged.

"They rescheduled the VMAs, so we decided to surprise you and the band!" He released the hug and smiled his big cheeky smile.

"Where are the others?" just as I said that, Luke, Michael and Ashton walked around the corner. 

"BOYS!" I ran over and we group hugged. 

You see, we weren't supposed to have 5 Seconds of Summer open for One Direction tonight, because they got an oppurtunity to perfom at the VMAs. I've known them for about two years now and we've all been best friends ever since although I'm the closest with Luke. He is one of my Best Friends.

"We missed you Neens." Luke said.

"Yeah! I mean, It's been what... a whole week without you?" Michael joked.

"ha ha...you know you missed me." I winked at him in reply.

"Who wouldn't miss you?" Luke said. 

I rolled my eyes at Lukes reply, but the silence was suddenly broken with Nialls laugh as he made his way over to us. The joke must have not have been too funny if Niall laughed. Seriously, that kids laughs at anything.

"Guys! It's so good to see you all!" Liam said as he walked over with Niall.

"We're excited to be here mate." Ashton said as he smiled at the boys.

"So, I heard you talked to management and they're letting you open for us tonight?." Niall questioned.

"Yeah! We're all set." Calum stated.

"Hey, boys, get ready. You're on stage in an hour." Shouted a guy with an clipboard that I've seen way to many times to even care about.

"Alright, we'll seeya after the show Neens? We can go to Nandos like we always do?" Calum asked 

"YESS!!" I heard Niall yell from the other side of the stage.

"I guess that answers your question." Me and Calum laughed.

My mum and I went and sat in our usual front row seats until the concert started.
