As the alarm went of Valentina reached to turn it of, but before she could it abruptly stopped Valentina slowly opened her eyes letting out a brief yawn. Her sky blue eyes were slowly adjusting to the bright sun that crept into her room. It was a perfect day, the sparrow outside the window formed a beautiful song that filled the room. A smile spread across her pale skin as she had just woken from a dream of when she was younger of her father and mother pushing her on the swings, surrounded by laughing children sliding playfully down the slide. It reminded her of how carefree she was, how happy she had been... before everything happened. It started at first with a hospital trip when Selene, Valentina's mother got sick, at first it was only small, like a cold. But it soon got much worse it was an illness no doctor could diagnose, meaning there was no known cure, the night she died Selene gave her daughter a gift she would cherished for the rest of her life, a necklace of the moon. It meant the world to her, Valentina never took it off as it reminded her of the short amount of time she got to spend with her mother, she was only 7.
It was only 5 years later when Valentina's father, Dymion married the unbearable women known as Mara, Valentina's stepmother. She was nice when Dymion was around, a mother figure, well that was until Dymion wasn't around such as when he went to work. She was an absolute witch, the true definition of an evil stepmother, luckily there were no evil stepsisters or this would be the new version of Cinderella, only there would be no happily ever after. Now 4 years later on, it has been a month since Dymion went missing. Police are still trying to figure out what happened, no one knows what happened there is no trace that he left, no gas station, shops or even banks cameras has captured his face to allow police to know he is at least alive, all what they found was he car parked outside a nearby park, he could be dead for all Valentina knew, that only meant that she had to stay under the care of Mara. She had to, for her father. She would not allow herself to fight, to disrespect his wife for he loved her and she knew that was for a reason. She had to just learn to trust Mara, no matter what it took. Even if that meant marriage to an unknown groom.
Marriage, was the thought that flooded Valentina's mind, her desperate wish for it to be a dream faded as fast as the memories of her parents.
Her hope for Mara canceling the wedding also faded when she walked gracefully into the room, dress in her hand, humming a calming tune her words fell effortlessly from her mouth as she began to tell Valentina of her plans to "beautify" her for her big day.
Yep her wish for it to all be a dream crumbled fasted then a sand castle being kicked by a toddler.
She couldn't do anything other then sit up and place a convincingly fake smile that spread across her rosey cheeks. Mara grinned at the contribution her stepdaughter had silently offered, making it set in stone of the plans for that day.
If only she knew what that day would hold, she may have thought of a way out... anyway out.
