Yokai Academy's Newest Student

Chapter Three Opening Ceremony

"Kiri slow down please you're going to fast I'm gonna-" I fell face first into the school walkway "-fall"

"Oh no! Niko are you ok?! I'm so sorry"

"Kiri I told you to slow do-" I looked up at her face, tears welling up in her eyes. Why was she like this? Why did she care so much about me? Come to think about it why am I even with her right now, why didn't I care when she bit my neck, why'd I let her drag me all the way here. There was just something about her, I wanted to make her happy and I don't know why...

"Kiri..."

"Niko...?" she looked me in the eyes and began clearing the tears that were still in her eyes. She was adorable.

"Kiri..."

"Oh Nik-" another voice rang out interrupting our conversation if you could even call it that.

"Kiri what are you doing out here the opening ceremony is starting?!"

I looked up at the voice it came from a boy no more that two year older than Kiri and I, he was a little shorter than me probably around 5'10 with brown hair not to long with bangs that hung in his face, along with green eyes, he had a unsettling look to him I couldn't quite put my finger in it.

"Oh takashi I was- um I was just-"

"She was making sure I was ok what's it to you Takashi?"

"Will you two stop please"

"Who is this guy Kiri?"

"Niko this is my brother Takashi"

"Brother...?"

"Yeah that's right her brother Niko you got a problem with that?"

"Um- I...no-no I don't, sorry"

"That's what I thought underclassmen, come on sis let's go before dad gets here"

"Oh um goodbye Niko"

I stood there feeling like an idiot as I watched Kiri get pulled away by her older brother Takashi. He looked back just to grin at me and at that point I realized what I made him look unsettling to me-

-he had fangs

What the hell I must be seeing things there's way he had fangs right...? I mean maybe he had fake teeth in? No those looked to real. Maybe he just filed his teeth, yeah that's gotta be it...

After I snapped back to reality I walked into the auditorium where they were holding the opening ceremony the room looked so new compare to the outside but I just put that thought aside what really amazed me was the number of students in the room. Had this many people really heard of this school? why is this the first time I heard of it, and then my question was answered.

"Hello students of Yokai Academy, for those of you who don't recognize me I am the headmaster, Tsukune Aono, and it is a pleasure to meet all you new and fresh monsters that have come to be a part of our school."

Did he just say monsters...? I must have miss heard him... I hope.

"So as you all know, you are not aloud to reveal your monster form to anyone, there will be no fighting on campus, and again please don't complain about smelling humans if they were to go through the tunnel they would die instantly," I swear he smirked when he said that last part not sure why, "now, I hope you all have a wonderful time here at Yokai academy and you are all dismissed to find your dorms and get your class schedules."

Oh god please tell me this is a practical joke monsters can't be real can they I mean that's crazy... but it would explain Takashi's fangs... what if they're telling the truth?! I can't just leave my mom would get pissed, I'll just stick around and hope this is all a joke or even a nightmare.
