Chapter 22

------------Maddie's POV------------

Eventually I got home with Erika "WE'RE HERE MUM!!" I shouted

"Katie, Joe and Sadie are here Maddie" my mum said. Katie was my auntie and Joe and Sadie are my cousins. Katie has recently split from my uncle, Dom, well ex uncle. So they spend a lot of time here lately. Me and Erika walked into the living room

"Hi girls" Katie said

"Hi auntie Katie" me and Erika said in unison. I went and sat next to Joe. I put my legs on his lap and he looked at me.

"Hello to you too" he said. I laughed and hugged him lightly

"Hey Josephine" I smirked. Erika went and sat next to Sadie who was 14.

"Hey Eri" Sadie said. Sadie was closer to Erika because whenever something bad happened to one of them the other would guess what It was. Me and Joe however, we used to argue every time we saw each other when we were 11 or 12. Joe is 15. Like me. Now though we're really close and I could trust him with anything.

"Madds. Can I talk to you?" Joe said

"Yeah, sure" I replied smiling. I got up and walked into the kitchen followed by Joe. "What's up shit face?" I smirked

"Just. Everything. Mum, dad. He cheated Madds. I don't even know what to do. Say. Lucie's trying to help. But she can't do everything. She works, and has her boyfriend and friends. It's all down to me some days. Sadie just. Doesn't care most days" he said all in one breath but somehow I got most of it. Lucie is Joe and Sadie's 22 year old sister. I just stared at Joe for a few moments and pulled him into a hug

"It's going to be okay. You've got me, Erika. Your dad was a douchebag. He had everything he could have wanted and he threw it all away. You'll be fine okay. I promise you that" I said to him. Joe smiled at me.

"Thanks Madds. But. Um. One problem" he said. He checked behind us to make sure no one was watching them he shut the kitchen door. He took a deep breathe and rolled down his socks to reveal loads of tiny little scratches on his ankle

"JOE!" I shouted at him. He looked at me with guilt "I love you so much" I said pulling him into a hug

"I love you too" he smiled hugging me back. We walked back into the living room and sat back down. Erika put her phone on the docking station and home by Gabrielle Aplin came on. Mine and Joe's song. I rested my head on his shoulder and softly sang.

I couldn't believe what had happened. And I needed to tell Charlie. Before something bad happened to me
