my love; help us feel alive. we're all afraid of
who's going to just walk away
and who's going to stay

my love; it's okay étoile

my love; because i'm not going anywhere

me; i'm so sorry for making you
doubt yourself.

me; i'm not going anywhere either.

me; i hope you'll forgive me

my love; i have nothing to forgive you for
as you have nothing to be sorry for

my love; i love you and nothing's going
to change that

my love; but we do need to talk later bbg

me; okay :) what about?

my love; you'll see ;) i love you
i'll see you later

me; grr fine. i'll see you later ♥️

I couldn't help the cheshire smile on my face as I got back to work on my piece.

Time was going by and minutes blurred into hours. I was making progress and I was close to finishing.

"Hey Adria-

"Holy fuck, how fast do you work?" Pyper entered my room sounding incredulous.

"Hey to you too Pyper," I smiled cheekily, looking up at her as I capped off my grey Sharpie.

"No, no, no," she shook her head frantically, "I refuse to accept this! Adrianna, you- what?" She nearly screamed dramatically with wide eyes.

"What?" I questioned, laughing.

"Unbelievable! Un-fucking-believable!" She shook her head.

"But it looks amazing, Adrianna," Pyper smiled widely and nodded her head ardently.

"Thank you," I smiled, "I really put my heart into it, I suppose."

"I can tell," she gave an all too knowing smile.

"However, you, my dear, are taking a break now," she stated in nonchalance and my smile dropped.

"What? No, I can't-"

"Yes, you can," she shot back in disbelief, "And you will."

"But I'm so close to finishing," I nearly cried.

"Adrianna, you don't want to rush it and mess up," she rolled her eyes, "You'll finish it tonight, and if not, tomorrow. You still have forty eight hours left," she finished indifferently.

And that is now how I found myself riding shotgun while Pyper was cruising down the freeway. I had no idea where we were headed and she seemed adamant on not letting me know either. It was rather quiet and not as busy as I'm used to as she drives down the familiar South Beach strip.

"We're going to the beach?" I asked with a raised eyebrow as she parked along the sidewalk.

"Yes, we are," she answered in a matter-of-factly tone, getting out of the car. I followed behind, slipping off my flip flops once we stepped in the sand.

"Look, the boys are over there," she pointed off in the distance. We took off running to them, all of us bursting out into laughter once we were together.

"We haven't hung out at the beach in forever," Marl pouted when we all calmed down.

"We'll be living here everyday this summer, just wait," Judah said, shaking his head as he laughed.

"Where's Phoenix," I frowned. He was the only one missing, the only I wanted to talk to.

"He's actually waiting for you, lovely," Blake winked whilst I crinkled my forehead in confusion.

"Come on then," Talon nodded for us to walk along the shoreline.

As we walked I noticed rose petals scattered around the white quartz sand and little tea candle lights igniting the way as I walked with the gang behind me. Until it all stopped at a lifeguard tower. Looking back at them with a questioning gaze, Elieze all but nodded his head in an up gesture as if to say "climb it."

"Étoile Filante," the all too familiar voice breathed as I stepped inside the tower.

"Phoen-" Instead of saying what I wanted, a gasp escaped my lips. There he stood - we stood - on a red velvety blanket. He stood before me with a bouquet of roses in hand and a grand heart shaped boxed of chocolates in the other. Surrounding us on the blanket were red and white rose petals and behind him on the wooden plank wall, rose petals spelled out "P R O M ?"

My eyes cut to his, he had on a beautiful star shining smile and a wide smile broke out on my face.

"Adrianna, there is absolutely no one else I can imagine having in my arms and dancing with on prom night, so will you please give me the honour?"

Tears clouded my eyes and my hand flew up to my mouth to hide the cry threatening to slip past my lips. I nodded my head happily and he took all but two strides to me, embracing me in his arms.

"It'll be a magical night, my love," he whispered in my ear. I tilted my head up slightly and felt my eyes crinkling as another cheshire smile etched its way on my face. Slowly, he lowered his head and pulled me in for a lingering passionate and cloud nine kiss.
