He was so small
Almost the size of a ball,
He had brown fur and golden eyes
He had this tiny tail that wiggled from side to side.

He ran upto me while I was on my way to my home,
I paused and looked at him
He was so adorable making my lips tug at their corners.

I patted his head and ran my hand over his fur coat
He loved it,I could say
Because he followed me when I started walking like a boat.

I left him and walked back to my home,
Next day,I found him again
It happened for days and days and we were a part of each other's life.

I brought him biscuits and a cuff
He brought me joy and love
I thought I'll adopt him soon,
Because I was a star and he was becoming my moon

One certain day on my way to work,
I thought this is the day, I'll take him home.
There was a quote that caught my eye
Written in big bolds making me sigh.

"Well maybe",I thought and continued my walk
I was as happy as a kid watching
confetti,
As today was the day, I'd carry the dog.

I reached our spot but he was nowhere to be found
Was I late or did he forget about our rendezvous,
I searched him a little, near and far
Finally found him at the end of altar.

Approached him with quivering steps
He made no move to raise his crest,
I crouched down and touched his  breast
A scream was left out of my chest.

There was blood around him drenching him in it's pool,
He passed away because someone broke the rule.

It's all my fault I screamed
But nothing woke him up from his eternal dream,
I cried and cried and took him far
To bury him and love him for the last.

On my way back while my cheeks were still wet
Images of him making me a little more red,
The image of the board flashed in my mind
Realizing what shouldve been done
The big bold letters making a return,

Indeed 'time waits for no one'.
