But back to the present. Ruby and Yang were not as cheerful today as they usually are, their sitting in their dorm on one of the beds together Yang is holding onto Ruby comforting her, Ruby is just holding onto her sister with tears threatening to fall, and in Yang's hand is a photo. The photo contains everyone in their family, their all standing side by side with one another holding onto each other and smiling at the camera. Taiyang is on the far left with his arm around Qrow, next is Raven who is resting her hand on Yang's shoulder who is to her left, to Yang's left is you smiling at the camera, on your left is Ruby who is hugging your waist and on the far right is Summer who is patting Ruby's head.
(If your confused here is the placement from left to Right: Tai, Qrow, Raven, Yang, (Y/N), Ruby and then Summer, I described the rights and lefts from the POV of you looking at the camera)
This photo was taken two weeks before tragedy struck the family and they lost all the male members. Yang and Ruby planned on staying like this until they fell asleep, but Blake and Weiss were really getting worried about the two, they didn't show up for class and have been depressed for most of the day. Weiss and Blake were concerned and asked about what happened but neither one of the sisters answered, so they covered for them in class, Weiss took notes and Blake made excuses up for the two. Weiss being who she is was a little pissed and so her Faunus friend tried to calm her down while they were on their way back to the team RWBY dorm.

Weiss: I just can't believe it they skip class and don't even tell us why !!! This is ridiculous!!!! She says as she stomps down the hallway back to the team RWBY dorm.

Blake: Weiss something bad had happened to them, it seems like they lost someone precious to them. I saw their looks and it reminded me of a few of the Faunus back in the White Fang, they had lost someone precious to them. She says almost whispering as she didn't want to expose her secret

Weiss: still they should at least tell us what's wrong...

Blake: they probably don't want to talk about it... after all you never talk about your family, except for that one time you opened up a bit to everyone....

Weiss stiffens as she knows what she is talking about, one night Weiss had told team RWBY about her family. She told them about her neglectful/abusive father, drunk mother, her prick of a brother and her usually scarce sister, her mother wasn't bad but she was usually drunk and her sister Winter was probably the best of them all even though she was barely ever around. The only real member that seemed to really care for her was the family butler Klein, he was probably the closest thing Weiss would ever get to a real father.

Blake: you don't like to talk about them, and they don't like to talk about it... she says as they approach the door

Weiss wants to argue but realizes that Blake is right.

The two enter the dorm to see the two sisters are still hugging each other, still on the brink of tears and looking at the photo.

Weiss: look you two, I know this must be very personal and I really don't want to pry. But what happened...? She asks sympathetically but in her usual stern tone.

Yang doesn't even react she just stares at the photo in sadness, Ruby looks up at Weiss and opens her mouth like she wants to tell her but Yang quickly grabs her sister's arm...

Yang: Ruby don't.... we made a promise...

That shocked Weiss and Blake, they had not realized that someone told them that they couldn't tell anyone.
