"MIA!" Kate called out as the two friends glared at each other so much that most took a step back. They all knew the temper those two could have and they'd rather not get in between the crossfire.
"No!" Mia said with a shake of her head. "He left you when you needed him the most. How can you trust him so blindly again after what he put you through?" Mia asked her with a shake of her head, she didn't see why Mia had never called her family out what they had done. Maybe she had but she hadn't been present for it.
"And most of them haven't put me through the ringer?" Kate asked with a nod in the direction of her family. Kate asked of Mia as she stood with her mouth full teeth not knowing how to react to that.
"And Glen and I talked everything out, it wasn't his fault that someone kept the fact from him that I was pregnant with his child," she told her best friend. They'd known each other since Secondary school, the move from Kate had put a bit of distance between them. They weren't as close as they had once bit as Catherine had taken over that role but Mia was still a great friend of her. She'd been there when most people she had known had turned their back on her.
"Good luck mate." Kate heard the lads say as they patted Glen on the shoulder, they were all too happy to retreat at his point and to come back later. This was something between the people in this room and Kate and Glen. They weren't supposed to be there for the drama.
"Why don't we watch Arthur whilst you two explain?" Danny suggested, walking up to Arthur and picking him up. Kate gave him a grateful smile and a nod of her head. "Come on bud, want to play the guitar?" Danny asked him as Arthur nodded his head. "Or ruin your dad's drum kit?" Danny asked Arthur who nodded his head eagerly in mischief.
"O'Donoghue stays away from my drum kit," Glen growled beside her in good humour as she kissed his cheek as Danny's laughter trailed after him.
"Explain?" Her mother said she'd been there for her daughter through it all. Had suggested and teased her about the fact that Glen could have been his dad and she'd never said anything at all. Why had she kept it from them? Kate recognised the same hurt in her grandparent's faces and of some more people who hadn't completely shun her. Motioning for them to sit down, Kate sunk down on the couch beside Glen, his hand holding hers for support.
"So Glen is Arthur's dad?" Her grandfather asked her as Kate slowly nodded her head. "Yes gramps, he didn't know about it till January though." She explained as she gave Glen's hand a small squeeze as she felt him tense up beside her.
"I swear to God Glen. You hurt her again and you'll have to deal with me. You may have her fooled, but not me." Mia warned him as Glen nodded his head at Mia.
"It won't happen though. I've been searching for her for the last five years. I'm not going to lose my chance with her again." Glen promised to Mia and to the few members of her family who earned such a promise. He could care less about what those of them who'd shunned her thought.
They had to wait through before they could explain anything more as the lads came to get Glen for the meet and Greet of the other people. Kate was left behind with her family at that point.
"You happy?" Her grandmother asked her as Kate nodded her head with a big smile on her face as she cuddled Arthur to her chest. "More than I've been. I'm glad to finally have him back," she told them with a tilt of her head and shrug of her shoulders.
"Why did you never say anything?" Her mother asked her the biggest question of them all as she let out a big sigh. "Cause most of you turned their back on me the moment I told everyone I was pregnant. Do you know how tough it was to deal with all of it? You don't even know half of it." she told them with a shake of her head as Mia sat down in Glen's spot from earlier.
