~ L I L A ~
"Finally," I groan as the bell rings indicating that the day was over. Grabbing my backpack, I sling it over my shoulder and walk out of the classroom. Pulling out my phone I text Ryan to meet me at my locker. Slipping my phone back in my pocket I head towards my locker and beam when I see Ryan leaning against it. "Hey Lilac," he greets and I playfully roll my eyes at the nickname. Ryan found it funny how my favorite flower was Lilac and my name was Lila. He often joked about how if my middle name started with a C then It'd be destiny. I open my locker, putting all my textbooks in it, not feeling like keeping them at my house unless I needed them for homework. Closing my locker, I grab Ryan's hand and we walk out of school. It was normal for us to hold hands, we had known each other since grade school, Ryan having tripped over my backpack and busting his lip.

It ended up with me apologizing so much that he said if I shut up he'd give me his cookie. And since then, we've stuck by each others side since then. Walking outside I look around for Aubrey and Rachel. I spot Aubrey sitting in her car staring at her phone, most likely texting her parents about why she'll be late for dinner. Aubrey never had a good relationship with her parents. They were catholic and expected her to get good grade along with hanging out the right crowd and marry a rich, respectful man then be a stay at home mom. However Aubrey went against their wishes of sticking in with the right crowd when she befriended me, Ryan and Rachel in eighth grade. It was no secret that the three of us weren't straight. While Ryan and I were both bisexual, Rachel was gay.

Though they never said it out loud, Aubrey's  parents resented Ryan and Rachel the most. They held respect for me since my parents were rich and successful and my family name happened to be the center of attention in the town. For the past three months, Aubrey's parents had been arguing and she was getting tired of it, finding every way possible not to be around them. Letting a sigh escape my lips, I turn my head and find Rachel talking to Rosalie.

Her face showed everything for me. Even from where I stood I could tell that Rachel was holding in her tears and anger. Rachel has anger issues, coming from a broken family. Her mom had walked out on her, her father, and her little sister nine years ago. Bentley, Rachel's little sister, was seven months old at the time. From then on Rachel was terrified of people walking out of her life, so she turned that fear into anger. Her anger caused her to be expelled from five different schools before she came to mine in fifth grade. When I learned of Rachel's past I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. She was six and had to grow up fast in order to help her father take care of her sister.

Shaking my thoughts away I let go of Ryan's hand and stop towards the pair. I know Edward and Jasper said that Rosalie felt threatened but that gave her no right to mess with my friend. I reach them making the blondes attention snap towards me. "Hey Rachel," I say and she gives me a small smile. I then turn towards Rosalie and glare. "I don't like that your making my friend feel bad. So I'm gonna give you a warning. You mess with her, you mess with me. And trust me when I say that I am someone you do not want to mess with," I glare, grabbing Rachel's hand I stop away.

"You didn't have to do that," she says. "Yea I did. Your my best friend," I state as we walk towards where Ryan and Aubrey's cars were parked next to each other. The two look up at our arrival. "I'll protect you no matter what," I say. "Same goes for us," Ryan says motioning between himself and Aubrey. "That's what friends are for," Aubrey smiles. "And I'll always protect you guys," Rachel says. "I'll always protect you guys to," Aubrey tells us. We all look at Ryan expectedly. He notices the looks on our face. "Fine I'll always protect your girls," he says and we smile. "You love ya," I state smiling wide. "Yea, Yea, Yea," he waves off. "Oof," he groans as all three of us pull him into a hug. "Okay now let's go, I'm hungry for pizza," Aubrey's says ending the moment and we all laugh. "Too Michelle's," I declare as we break away.
