Chapter 9

MELANIE'S POV

As I dried my tears, I heard Sydney call me down for lunch.

"What happened to your wrists, Mel?" Sydney asked me while I sat down.

"Oh. I fell while riding my longboard," I lied looking down at my wrists.

"That's not good!" she said," Especially with your birthday party tomorrow."

Shit. Tomorrow's my birthday and now I have 4 big ugly scars on my wrists. I totally forgot.

Sydney went upstairs to go shower and I broke down again. But this time, Dad walked in on me bawling my eyes out.

"Mel! What's wrong, baby?" he asked me.

I felt like telling him the truth but I lied. "Oh. Just stressed about tomorrow. But I'll be fine."

He looked at me like I was crazy. "Don't be. Syd and I have everything planned out perfectly.'

He looked at my wrists and I got worried. I tried to walk away but he grabbed my wrist and I winced in the pain.

"What happened here?" he asked me in a strange tone.

"I fell off my longboard on my way home," I said to him.

Dad knows me and I think he can tell that I'm lying to him.

But surprisingly, he let go and left me alone to eat my lunch.

I wasn't hungry, so I gave my pizza to Jess.

I went to my room and changed into my Mickey Mouse shorts and a black tank top.

I stayed on my phone and watched all of Brent's (duh) videos on YouTube until Jessica called me down for dinner.

We all ate in silence until Sydney broke the ice.

"So, Mel," she started," what do you want for your from a bunch of girl birthday?"

Wow. I never actually gave that a thought.

"Oh, maybe a new longboard,' I said not looking up.

"Is that it?" my dad asked me.

"Yep," I lied. " I'm really tired right now so I think I'm gonna go up to bed for the night."

I went upstairs and stayed on my phone to see if Brent was doing another following spree, and luckily, he was.

I always do this: I comment 'Follow me please ily so much <3' but he never does.

Instead of sending him my normal message, I sent something different. I said ' Tomorrow is my birthday and all I want is for you to follow me <3'

BRENT'S POV

I only did the following spree because I really wanted to see if Melanie would try.

I got off my phone and it started to light up from a bunch of girls commenting to one caught my eye.

'@Mel_Rivera98: Tomorrow is my birthday and all I want is for you to follow me <3'

I wish I could tell her that I knew it was her birthday is tomorrow.

So to give her an early birthday present, I followed her.

I go onto Twitter and I saw that someone followed me.

@BrentRivera is now following you
