"You hang up!"

"No, you hang up!"

"Noooo, you do it."

These words would repeat over and over from the mouths of both Mace and Shayne. They were horribly in love and didn't want to be the one to abandon his precious lover.

They always hung up at the count of three, but cried after. They hated hanging up. If only they could see each other every day. Turn over in bed and see those beautiful eyes across from one of them.

Mace was the less dominant partner, but that didn't mean that he couldn't be absolutely beautiful. He was 5'6 and had sea-foam green eyes. His skin was a caramel color and his hair a chestnut brown. Of course he was a sweet boy, but along with that, he was very clingy. He was the one that would cry himself to sleep after saying goodbye to his lover.

Shayne was, by process of elimination, the dominant lover, and he was undoubtedly handsome. He was 6'1 and would seem to tower over Mace if they ever stood side by side. His eyes were a pure hazel with golden accent, skin a light tan with freckles, and hair a dirty blonde. All he wanted to do was touch Mace. Hug him and spoon him while they slept. It was his true dream.

One day as they were chatting through Skype, Shayne nonchalantly brought up the fact that he had decided to take a trip to Madison, where Mace lived. He laughed as he heard Mace scream like a little girl on her birthday. He was excited beyond belief.

"When are you coming babe??" Mace asked quickly.

Shayne took a moment to recollect himself before answering. "I'm coming in a week and a half." He said excitedly, not being able to keep his smile under control.

Mace gasped. "That early? Shayney, you know it's snowing up here right?"

Shayne's eyes widened. "Snow??" He asked, panicked. "I didn't know it snowed up by you!" He sighed. "Well there goes taking walks in the park..."

Mace giggled. "Don't worry babe. It's only October. We're for some reason getting snow already though, which none of us are happy about." He said sweetly.

Shayne nodded. "Wisconsin must suck, huh?" He teased.

Mace rolled his eyes. He had lived in Wisconsin all his life, whereas Shayne grew up in California. "Yeah yeah. I'm sure you're used to always grabbing a pineapple, shoving a straw in it, and drinking it by the ocean, right?" He laughed.

Shayne chuckled. "Totally. Babe I've got to go for now, okay? I'm just going to go get ready. There's a lot of things that I have to do to get ready. 3... 2..."

"... 1..."

Silence. At one, they hung up, leaving Mace to cry his eyes out. "H-he didn't... he didn't even say 'I love you'..." He sobbed, jumping as he felt his phone buzz. Shayne!

He smiled happily and blushed softly when he saw the words 'I love you' in a text message.

October 23, 2014

A boy on the highway of I 672 has been in a crash, between the border of Illinois and Wisconsin. He is in critical condition, and isn't expected to make it.

October 24, 2014

Mace rushed to the hospital room that his love was in, crying more than he ever had before in this relationship. "Shayne!!!" He yelled as he burst into the room.

Shayne laid on the hospital bed, weak and teary-eyed. His left eye had gotten glass in it and damaged it horribly, though he didn't have to remove it. His arms and torso were patched up in all sorts of bandages and casting. In the weakest voice Mace had ever heard was a small, scratchy "Hello, Macie..."

Mace choked out another sob, running to the bedside. "Shayne... Y-you'll be okay, I promise. I don't care what the doctors say, you'll be okay." He whispered, very carefully hugging him and placing a gentle kiss to his cheek.

Shayne coughed and shuttered. "M..ace... Please... Don't leave me..." He muttered.

Mace forced a smile. "Are you kidding? You came all the way here... I'll never leave you." He said.

Shayne gently pushed Mace away and pulled him back into a tender kiss. He stroked Mace's cheek and pulled away with a gasp. Their first kiss. But of course neither of them thought it would happen this way. "I want you to spend the nights here with me, hug me, kiss me, eat with me, just do everything with me. Can you do that..?" He asked quietly.

Mace nodded. "I'll do everything with you from now on, Shayne. I'll love you forever."

They leaned in for another kiss, but were interrupted by a nurse that came to take Shayne to a surgery. "Mister Fern, but it's time for your surgery. It'll only take a couple hours, but visiting hours end by then." She said to him.

Shayne looked at Mace with a hope in his eyes. "He isn't a visitor, he came to stay with me while I recover." He said softly.

The nurse nodded in understanding. "Very well, he'll be asleep for a good hour after the surgery, but he should wake up after that." She said as she looked over at Mace, who also nodded.

"Bye Shayney, good luck. I love you."

"I love you too Mace."

And with that, the lovers were parted, and Shayne was taken away for his operation.
