01||To the Moon and never back

"The moon is a friend for the
lonesome to talk to."

He sat on the edge of the palace balcony, his crown perfectly nestled on top of his head in such a manner that the young prince could not have the heart to take it off (for he certainly did not want to receive another scolding from his personal butler).

Although it was past his bed time, he could not help himself but stare at the colorful planet displayed in front of his window, its captivating green and blue colors swirling at the surface of what planet seemed to be called "Earth".

He was quite certain that it was the correct label of the planet, for he had memorized nearly all the written information found from the palace library, reciting each and every detail by heart. And "Earth", as he remembered, was said to be the only star in the entire universe that contained multiple living creatures and organisms, one of which was called "Human".

"Hooman." He tried whispering, the sound foreign to his tongue. The small boy just shrugged and discarded those complicated thoughts, too intoxicated with the brilliant mixture of colors to care at that point.

What mattered to the young highness was the breathtakingly beautiful scenery that was scattered around the edge of his sight, his heart pounding with unknown adrenaline while peering at the gleaming orb, such beauty not able to match anything in the universe.

"It's so pretty." He mumbled mindlessly, a graceful smile appearing at the edge of his lips as he took his time enjoying the endless greenery which he desired to explore. His heart filled with such love for his new found companion, a soft giggle erupting from his lips while he leaned against the back of his small hands, admiring the simple yet extravagant planet that had sparked his interest.

Maybe. Just maybe, he could go there someday. Perhaps he can even make some friends his age, since it was quite boring here with only his younger brother, Jungkook, to keep him company.

"Why aren't you asleep?" A small gasp escaped from the prince, who immediately waddled towards his extravagant bed and jumped into the fluffy sheets, closing his eyes and pretending to be asleep.

But of course, this little stunt didn't work. Our baby boy heard a soft airy giggle, and a familiar tune which rang across the room.

"Mother?"

"Yes dear. It's me." A soft chuckle echoed through the vast area of gold and silver, her majesty appearing with a soft smile on her porcelain face.

"You were watching Earth again, weren't you?" She asked, her beauty radiating off the dim room as a gracious smile overtook her face, her emerald blue eyes shining like the North Star.

"You've caught me." The boy replied, fidgeting with the edge of his long pajama sleeves as his eyes sparkled with guilt.

"I-it's just that I haven't seen Earth for a while, and I missed it terribly! Oh please don't tell father..." The adorable prince kept quiet as his mother signaled him to stop, a knowing look on her face as she hugged the small child.

"I know you love Earth very much. But keep in mind that you have a study session with Jin tomorrow."

"Yes mom." A sigh came from the pouty boy as he snuggled his toy and closed his eyes, listening to his mother's lullaby.

"Do you remember
How we stayed up late
Under the stars of September
Both of us too tired to wait

Our gazes in lock
Our smiles outshining
Our small talk
And especially the love we were drowning..."
