New to the team

You sat in that god forsaken chair, sore and confused, you had just had your memory wiped and everything hurt.

Your mind was completely scrambled and you hated  it. Nothing made any sense and you couldn't put two things together if you tried.

The pressurised room you sat in made your head hurt and you just wanted to crawl into a ball and go to sleep and not have to think.

Unfortunately HYDRA was trying that already- the not thinking part that is. And soon enough they would succeed

Then a man walked up to you,

"Phase?" He asked

You didn't reply and he took a chair and sat opposite you

"Look at me" he told you and you raised your head to look him, he has short brown hair and dark eyes, he had big bags under his eyes and it looked like he hadn't shaved in a while

"Who do you work for?" He asked

"I serve in the name of HYDRA" you replied in a monotone voice

"And Who is steve Rodgers?" He asked with a sick grin on his face

"A target" you said

"James barns?" He questioned and you couldn't hide the confused expression on your face

"m-my brother?" You said and you looked at him questioningly

He sighed and looked down,

"He is not your brother." He said "he was trying to get into your mind and he had succeeded, he is a target, one you will take out"

"But I have seen him before" you said

"Yes on a previous mission but I assure you, you have no other connection to that man"he replied

You gave him a confused expression and he sighed once more

"Do it again" he said to a man next to him and you were pushed back down.

Straps held you down and a big metal thing came over your head, you braced yourself for pain but couldn't stop the screams of agony that escaped your lips when the machine started

This went on three more times, every time you remembered Bucky, your brother. It appeared to be seared into your brain but they got there eventually, and you had once again  you became a mindless goon ready to do HYDRA's bidding.

-meanwhile-

"Are you sure this meeting is necessary?" Bucky whined as he and Steve made their way down the the meeting room

"I don't know Buck, but we need a better plan" steve said

"But Fury's probably really pissed with me" Bucky complained

"Probably" steve confirmed

Both of them looked like a wreck, neither had gotten a lot of sleep and when they did, they were plagued      with nightmares.

At about five in the morning Bucky had given up and went to go for a run around New York, but was met by Steve who thought of the same thing- so just as day was breaking the two men had run silently around the streets of New York.

Bucky wished he could do it again. Exercise sometimes cleared his head and doing it with Steve made it better.

"Buck!"

Bucky was pulled from his thoughts as steve waved his hand in front of his face,

"Earth to James!" He yelled and Bucky swatted his hand away

"Don't call me that" he said and Steve chuckled

They walked into the meeting room, tony, Natasha, Clint, Wanda and Bruce were already there and so was a rather angry looking Fury (haha)

"Afternoon" he greeted shortly

"Mhm" Bucky said in response,   
Tony snickered and Fury shot a glare at him

Bucky also didn't miss a grin from Steve. They both sat and Fury began talking

"So as last your last mission was a bust." He stoped and glared at the group "you need a better plan of action"

"She recognised us a bit... I think" steve said

"But that's not good enough, now they will just wipe her memory again" Bucky said looking down

"So next time we need to try harder" steve said trying to be optimistic

"How do you plan on doing that?" Bruce asked

"I think the Christmas story was good" Natasha suggested

"And I liked it" tony cut in

"What Christmas story?" Fury asked

"Steve and Bucky told her what they did on Christmas in, what was it? 1935?" Natasha said

"What did you do?" Bruce asked

"We broke into an abandoned wear house at the edge of town and lit a fire, steve had a asthma attack because of the smoke, and y/n laughed at him for it. Then the cops came and we had to run to him mums house and we had hot tea" Bucky said with a small smile on his face that quickly fell when Fury cut in

"Well that's all well and good but the point of this is to catch her then you can focus on getting her memory's back"

"But we could catch her without a struggle if she had her memory's" steve said glaring slightly at Fury

Fury shrugged "well the point is you need a plan" he said

"I think we should have two plans, you know?" Tony said and everyone turned to look at him

"What do you mean?" Steve asked

"Well we could start with you two going out again and trying to get her to remember by telling her story's or something. That's plan A" he said

"And plan B?" Bruce asked

"Well it's not as nice, but if she gets violent you could get her to throw you into a wall and behind the wall would be the room I made, then when she flys after you, you move in the nick of time and she flys into the room"

Bucky looked at steve uncomfortably

"But plan B is only a 'last resort' kinda option" tony said sensing the discomfort

"Alright, sounds like a plan" steve said
