nineteen.

It was hard to understand
how someone so full of light
lived in such a dark place.

"Come live with me,"
pleaded the lavender-haired girl.

The one with forest eyes
looked at that house
hidden in the field,
musing something.

"There's not enough space
in such a little house
to keep all of our love,"
he replied, chuckling.

And anyway,
he would do it.
He would do anything
for his Princess.

He would get
in that dark and empty
place as she once
did with his heart.

And they planted
lots of flowers in there.
Blue flowers in the windows,
yellow ones in the kitchen,
and red ones in the garden.

They cleaned out the dust,
fixed the furniture,
and opened the windows.

And they got a cat
with auburn hair
- like Makoto -
and another cat
with big,
lavender eyes
- like Kyoko -

And eventually
Makoto brought his clothes,
his blankets,
his food,
his guitar, his drums, his harp,
his books...

And Kyoko used
Makoto's hoodies
midsummer just
because she felt
like doing so.

And at night, she
covered both of
them with the
blankets, even if
they woke up
without them.

And they shared their food,
even if it was little quantity.

And they read again
that tale about a
Prince, over and
over again, until
they knew it by
memory.

And made more music
together, like before.

The essence of love
is not giving a lot
until you run out of it.

The essence of love
was in that promise
they both shared,
laying on the grass.

It was on Makoto's words
when he promised;
"I give you all I have, it's
not much, but it's all yours."

And on Kyoko's
when she said back;
"I don't need everything.
Only you is enough."

And their melodies sounded
double the beautiful.
And their lips tasted
double the sweeter.
And the stars didn't hide
not even at daytime.

But what happens when
you fly so high is that
everything below you
seems so small.

And they didn't think,

blinded by the summer,

that sooner or later

winter would arrive.
