"You did what?!" Annabeth screamed. Annabeth paced around the strawberry fields. She finally made eye contact with Calypso. Annabeth had her fist clenched and breathing hard.
"Please understand," Calypso said while trying to not ruin the small amount of trust. "Let me explain."
Annabeth glared at Calypso. She rubbed her eyes and felt blind taking her back to Tartarus. The bitterness, loneliness, pain, hurt, the fear. Being alone and blind in your worst nightmare. No one at all to turn to. "Please enlighten me. What did I ever do to you?!" Annabeth buried her hands in her face to stop any tears.
Calypso noticed people circling around and forming a crowd. She left when she saw Percy running over to Annabeth. She looked behind her once and walked to the Forge. She stepped in and saw Leo covered in ash. "Can I talk to you for a second Leo?"
Leo had an awkward smile. "Yeah." He walked out of the forge and clapped his hands together getting the ash off of them. He looked at Calypso's face and couldn't identify her emotion. Was she mad, sad, irritated, annoyed? She wasn't one to let anger get the best of her. Calypso and anger weren't a combination good for that person's health. "What's up? I was working on a dagger for Annabeth. You know she lost her first one in Tartarus?"
Calypso glared at Leo when hearing Annabeth's name. She calmed herself and sighed. They walked to the Dining Pavilion. Calypso explained to Leo what went down and he sat and listened not knowing what to say. If Calypso placed a curse on Annabeth then what's there to say. It happened and there's nothing to do.
Before they even got a chance to leave they saw everybody piling into the Mess Hall. They didn't realize that it was lunch already. Calypso went to the Hermes table and Leo the Hephaestus. Calypso had a few kids ask her what had happened and she didn't say anything. Matter of fact, the whole lunch period she was silent. That was until Percy came to ask her.
"Can I talk to you?" He said while looking around the Mess Hall.
"Nope." Calypso didn't turn around to see him. The last thing she wanted was a conversation with Annabeth's knight in shining armor. She picked up her cup and ignored him. Before she could even get the cup to her mouth, Percy grabbed her wrist with the cup still in her hand. She put the cup down and then shook Percy's hand off her wrist.
"I'm serious. We need to discuss what happened." Percy's voice was firm yet soft at the same time. He had a look of sorrow in his eyes.
Calypso rolled her eyes. She got up though because she didn't have much of an appetite. She never does. Almost every meal she just picks at her food and eats half of what's on her plate. She went over to Leo and told him that she was going to talk to Percy. "So do you want to lecture, ridicule, or judge me?" Calypso tapped her foot.
Percy looked at his feet and kicked the ground. He reached for her shoulder and she flinched. "I knew you put the curse on her. I've known since it happened. But why?"
Calypso chuckled. "I was jealous, mad, bitter. I don't know. But if you knew why didn't you tell her?"
"I wasn't expecting it to come up. I didn't even think you two would ever meet," Percy said while kicking the dirt.
Calypso did one of those fake laughs that told you she was pissed. "Oh yeah. You were expecting me to just be on Ogygia for the rest of my life. I forgot. Calypso doesn't get the happy ending like everyone else does."
Percy's eyes widened he reached out for her then pulled his hands back remembering how uncomfortable she got when making contact with him. "What?! That's not what I meant and you know it. I just didn't know you'd be at Camp Half-Blood."
"And I didn't know you'd be in Tartarus. Let alone live through it," Calypso countered.
"Wow. But that's not the point. The point is that I want what happened in Tartarus to stay there." Percy grabbed her shoulders with his hands. Despite her attempts to get his hands off her, he just tightened his grip. "Please. I want this to go away."
Calypso finally yanked away from him and started breathing heavily. "If you haven't noticed, I'd rather not have you touch me." Calypso stepped backward. "At all." She brushed her shoulders with a look of discomfort.
"Why are you so uncomfortable around me all of a sudden?" Percy asked with a sound of nervousness.
Calypso shook her head. "Doesn't matter. I want it to go away just as much as you. But that's Annabeth's choice."
Calypso left Percy to go sit on the edge of the woods. She just sat down thinking about what she'd done. It wasn't that she was felt guilty. She wasn't ashamed of what she did. Why should she be? The chances that Percy and Annabeth would end up in Tartarus and survive it were so slim she didn't think it'd matter.
She drifted into her own thoughts and tuned out the world. She didn't notice when Piper sat down next. Piper tapped Calypso's shoulder and she jumped up. "Hey, Piper."
Piper looked around and rubbed her eyes. "You okay." Piper already knew the answer that question. She just wanted Calypso to feel welcome at camp. Not be ridiculed for something she did. "I talked to Leo earlier. All he cares about making sure you're okay. But if you don't mind me asking, why were you so distant towards Percy earlier?"
Calypso raised her eyebrows. So he went off and told everybody huh, Calypso thought. "No reason I guess." Calypso did her best to not answer why. Calypso knew charmspeak but avoiding it was harder than she expected.
"Really. Okay." Piper stood up and held out her hand to Calypso. "Be prepared for more demigods than usual tomorrow. A few Romans are coming for battle strategies."
Calypso took her hand and cracked a smile. "I believe it's time for free choice so I'll be at arts and crafts." Calypso walked off with Piper next to her.
"Translation equals: I'm gonna go see Leo."
"You're not wrong."
FINALLY DONE WITH THE FIRST CHAPTER. Okay if you don't know what I'm talking about, Calypso cursed Annabeth and it was unleashed in the House of Hades while they were in Tartarus. So I decided to make a fanfiction. I researched the crap out the books to make this making sure everything was accurate. But yeah. Hope you enjoyed. I really wanted to make a joke about how Calypso talked different between BotL and HoH, but I couldn't figure out how. It will happen. Okay if you reread the HoH where Leo is on Ogygia, if you pay attention you'll realize, she's been speaking in Ancient Greek this whole time. Leo said he couldn't quite translate what she was saying. It's not English and that's why. She may know English but if they're sending her Greek demigods there's no point in her speaking English. This isn't told in anyone's POV, but the following chapters will be. Thanks for reading.
