The first time I opened my eyes, my vision was overwhelmed with bright colors.

The second time I opened my eyes, I stared into a sunset orange sky. I looked around the room, with cream colored wallpaper. A wooden dresser, a table and a mirror sat in one corner of the room. A desk sat on the other, holding a journal and candle.

I looked at my shoe-less feet at the end of the cast iron bed. A gray and red quilt laid across my legs, which must have been the source of my warmth.

I tried to sit up, with little success. My ribs ached and my head felt like it was being used as a drum. I groaned and laid back down.

"I wouldn't recommend getting back up if I were you." I heard a sweet voice say.

I opened my eyes and looked to my left.

"Eden!" I said with a smile.

She grinned and walked over to give me a gentle hug. I grabbed her and hugged her tightly.

"I missed you." I whispered in her ear, my fingers running down her soft, dark brown hair.

"I missed you to Eric. I was really scared when I-"

I cut her off saying, "I know. I'm sorry you had to see me like that Eden." I then released her from my hold and looked around the room.

"Thank you for taking care of me." I said, giving her another small smile. I felt really grateful. After all I had been through, she cared enough to come and save me. This time, she was my hero.

I looked at her with a smirk, "So, do I owe you?"

She giggled and rolled her big, brown eyes, her white teeth showing. "You don't owe me anything, stupid."

I smirked, then I threw the covers off, seeing a bare off denim pants now on my body. I sat up and slide my legs to the side of the bed. I suddenly felt a hand on my thigh, electricity felt like it was shooting up through my body.

"Eric," Eden said with a cautious voice, "Be careful."

I looked at her, questions running through my head. I then realized she meant getting up, be careful getting up. I could feel the bruises on my side, making it difficult for the air to travel to my lungs. I settled with a nod of my head, and with a groan, stood up on my two feet.

Once I was up, Eden walked over to me, playing with her fingers. "Eric, I never got to thank you for saving my brother."

I laughed and put my hand on her shoulder, "Your welcome. You saved my life, so let's call it even." I say with a wink.

She looked up at me and smiled warmly, my heart turning to mush. I slid my hand over her shoulder, staring into her eyes intensely. I moved my palm over her shoulder, feeling the soft fabric of her shirt, and then my hand landed on her hip. A smile played at my lips as I pulled her toward me.

She looked at my chest, for once, it seemed like she is out of words. "Wha-wha, what are you doing?" She mumbled.

I felt my cheeks get slightly pink and replied, "Don't think to much of it. I just wanted a hug."

I pulled her close to me and hugged her gently. She responded by wrapping her arms around my torso. I smiled and pulled away a few seconds later.

"Alright, I need to go downstairs and make breakfast." She said, turning around before I could see her face. Though, I could have sworn I saw her cheeks turn red.
