Chapter 1

It was midnight and the night was darker than ever.Yet one room of a house was not ready to go go into darkness.Through the lighted window,anyone could have seen the shadow of a girl in her early twenties walking briskly past the window now and then. It was none other than Rakhi. In spite of the darkness outside which would have easily propelled one to go to sleep,she wasn't in a condition to mind it.But she was busy trying to call someone through her phone. For some unlucky reason she wasn't able to reach the other person. She was in a pink tshirt matching with her room with a pair of black jeans andwore her waist length hair into a beautiful ponytail .She continued to pace up the room clutching her phone. Then looking up and praying,she oncemore tried to call. This time by God's grace, bell was indeed ringing on the other side.After a couple of seconds,a sleep stricken female voice came on line.

"Hello...Zana speaking here. ..who's there?"

"Hello!Zana!! It's me Rakhi! I want to say something very urgent to you . .. "

"Oh dear.... can't you just tell me in the morning...? I am soo sleeepy..bye.."

"No.no.no Zana?Please don't cut the line!I want you to hear my problem! Pleeease!"

"Ok.Tell....listening..." still in a lazy tone.

"Listen? I am coming there to your house! Anyway! I have decided it for sure! Today morning I will be departing! "

"Whaatt?"the sleepy tone was suddenly aroused. I rolled my eyes.

"Yes..you heard it. I am coming."

"What do you mean,girl? You coming to my house?That is...you.coming.all.the.way.from.Kerala.to.Singapore??"

"You need any translation, Idiot? "I mocked her."please dear. I am coming there. Don't wanna stay here a second longer!I wanna escape from here!"

"Hey hey wait. .calm down.breathe.. now tell me has happened suddenly that you, Rakhi wants to run away from your own house leaving your parents behind..?"

"Ok..ok..I am calm now.Yes!This is really important! "

"What happened? Are you kidnapped ? Or did anything bad happen? Aren't you home?" This time she was really worried.

"Zana ...am not kidnapped. And I am home. But something that shouldn't have happened has happened now ! And that's soo bad for me!"

"Huh? What's that? Tell me!" She asked alarmed.

"You know,I have completed my four years' engineering course a few weeks before?"

" yeah yeah. So what?" She was already impatient.

"Yesterday night when I was walking to dad and mom to say goodnight, I heard them talk something about me.I was curious and so I stood there to eavesdrop.I had to." I admitted feeling sheepish.

"Then? Did they plan anything against you??"She sounded as if I was getting kidnapped or something.

"Yeah girl! Terrible! Let me explain their conversation. "

"Go on."

Mom: See? Rakhi has completed her course.

Dad: yeah I know.

Mom: Hasn't it become time for us to react?

Dad: react to what?

Mom: Aren't you aware she has grown up?

Dad: Yes. So what?

Mom: Oh! You are annoying sometimes. I am talking about marrying her to some guy!

Dad( chuckled): oh that? Yes,of course,I know! I am her father. So I have planned everything . Tomorrow my friend and his wife is coming with their only son to see our daughter. Now are you relieved?
