Lances POV
The planet really was pretty. There was vegetation all over, thick trees that completely blocked the light from above. Lance was lucky enough to have ended up right near a body of water that resembled a lake, and he immediately thought of swimming later on. He loved the water, he always had. He and his siblings would always splash around in it, laughing and messing around. He was lost in his own thoughts, when something, well, more like someone, fell on top of him and knocked him to the ground.
" what the- Keeeeithhh!!" Lance whined, pushing keith off of himself.
" sorry sorry I just- I landed here." He said getting up and brushing himself off. He winced suddenly, and brought his hand up to his head.
" hey man you ok?" Lance asked, his voice now filled with concern. Keith immediately took his hand away from his head, but his face still held a pained expression.
" yeah I'm good." He responded. " I guess this means we have to 'bond'?"
" guess so.." lance replied.
Silence filled the air, and lance found himself drifting back to the thought of the water. He wondered if the water was able to swim in, or if it was some weird alien water that would burn you alive. He made a mental note to ask Coran later. Would Keith swim with him? He would probably just make fun of him like he always did.
" lance?" Keith's voice came through his thoughts.
" oh uh.. sorry. Yeah?"
" I asked if you wanted to go sit and try to... bond. The sooner we get out of here the better." Keith rolled his eyes, but lance could tell it wasn't directed towards him, but more at the situation they were in.
" oh. Yeah sure that sounds great man. How about under one of those trees over there?" Lance suggested.
" looks cool and comfy with all those leaves under it. Let's do it." Keith replied.

Readers POV
Keith was right about it being comfy. The leaves created a very nice cushion to sit on and, although they weren't completely comfortable with each other, they boys managed to get along and talk just fine. So far, the conversation had only two disagreements, and those were easily sorted out in a matter of minutes. They eventually ran out of things to say, and were now sitting in an awkward silence, neither knowing how to break the ice.
Eventually though, lance mentioned something about his family back home, and the conversation started up again.

Keiths POV
" and the little guys, aw they're always so happy. So cheerful. I miss my mom." Lance stopped talking, knowing he would cry if he went any further. Keith fidgeted awkwardly next to him, he'd never been good with words.
" lance I'm.. so sorry. I wish I could say I knew how you felt.." keith said. He awkwardly rested a hand on lances shoulder.  I hope this isn't weird. He thought. Keith's thoughts were quickly diminished when lance gave him a kind smile. Damn that was cute. Wait what?! Lance is not cute. Keith didn't think like that about anyone, let alone lance! But... ok maybe a little bit cute.  Keith cleared his throat and ran his fingers through his hair, looking down at his hands.
"Well why don't you tell me about you and hunk? Maybe what the garrison was like after I left?"
" sure ok." Lance replied. " well for one, me and hunk were always best buds. Flight partners and all that. Pidge was our partner too, but she wasn't as close as me and hunk were. We got into all sorts of trouble, me and hunk." Lance continued to tell him about memories of him and hunk, trouble they got into, stuff they did to Iverson. Keith found it very entertaining, and actually laughed a few times, something very unusual for keith. Lance laughed and finished his stories, looking at Keith who enjoyed them very much.
" as for the part about after you left..." lance trailed off.
" yeah?" Keith asked. He was... maybe he was a bit curious as to why lance didn't say anything right away. Maybe he wanted to know why lance stopped.
" it was different. Iverson treated me differently, and looked down at the thats for sure. He knew the only reason I was there was because you dropped out. And I guess it was true, but he treated me terribly. And I guess that sucked. I wanted to lance McClain, not the shadow of Keith Kogane." Lance finished, taking a deep breath.
" wow lance. I'm so sorry. I didn't know he treated you that way." Keith replied. He felt terrible for lance, and something else swelled in his chest, and he thought it was anger, but he didn't know why he would be mad at lance, so he pushed it away.
" hey it's ok. It doesn't really matter. Look at me now? I'm flying a giant metal lion, defending the universe! He can't tell me I'm here because someone dropped out."
Keith just smiled at lance. No he can't lance. No he can't.

Hey guys! So I'm trying to take this slow, as I don't want to go too fast. But I'm really not the best writer, so bare with me please! I hope this wasn't too bad, and the chapters should be around this length, maybe a bit longer or shorter depending. This will probably end up being finished really quickly, because I love to write and it's summer for me, so I don't have a ton to do. But don't hold me to that, because I can't promise anything for sure! That's all for this chapter! Photo credit to ikamru
