Sleep, for thou art the ultimate escape.
When I'm with you there is no outside world,
And my conscious writes my deepest thoughts down.
I run to you every night because I can be myself with you, and open up.
You know no sense of time and schedules don't
Matter to you. All that matters is that
When I desire to, I can visit you.
Society tries to regulate us
And tell us when we can see each other,
But I know, day or night, your doors are open.
I have told you secrets that no one else knows.
You show me things that no one else could show.
You are the last safe place that I can go.
You display my fears, my dreams, and omens,
Like holy ghost visions that I use for my poems.
You are a break from the world, much like death,
But I can have you, and still have my breath.
All that matters, when it is said and through,
Is that nothing matters when I'm with you.
