It was a warm, sunny, Monday morning in the middle of fall. That was rare considering that it's usually pretty chilly by this time of the year. Kassidy however didn't care about the weather because she was tired and had to go to school. It was only her second year of high school and already she wasn't feeling too great about it.
It was nearly the end of October but Kassidy couldn't help but wish that it was Christmas break. It's not that she hated school, she just didn't enjoy how some assignments required for her to stay up late to finish them. It was exhausting and annoying. There was one person however who helped her go through the days and made them seem not as bad as they actually were. His name was Cody and he was basically Kassidy's only friend. People who didn't know them would assume they were a couple. However that could never happen because Cody was gay.
Kassidy met Cody on the bus on her first day of freshman year. They got along pretty quickly considering the fact that they were also in three of each other's classes and they had homeroom together. Since that day the two were pretty much inseparable.
The bus was about to leave when Cody got on.
"Wow you're not late for once. I applaud you." Kassidy said to her blonde haired friend.
"Ha ha ha. Good morning to you too."
"I'm just telling the truth. You're always late on Monday's. It's like magic or something."
"Well, what can I say I truly am magical."
"You wish."
"I do. One day I will achieve my goal of being accepted into Hogwarts."
"Sure you will buddy"
At first glance you would think that Cody was a typical basic white boy. He had short blonde hair and blue eyes a nice jawline and he was fit. He was pretty blind so he also had glasses with a thin golden frame. He usually wore a red beanie and a light brown jacket over whatever shirt he could find in his closet. He completed the look with black jeans and a pair of Nike's. Once you got to know him though, you'd realize that he's the mom friend. He cared for Kassidy and didn't want anything bad to happen to her because she was "too precious" as he would say.
Kassidy however never thought of her self as "precious" and you'd never think she was if you didn't know her. She had long, chocolate brown hair that she would usually wear in a bun and she had green eyes. She didn't wear much make up because she never had the energy to wake up early in the morning to do it. Kassidy would usually wear a sweatshirt or a shirt with a cardigan accompanied by ripped jeans and a pair of white converse.
Even tough Cody would act like a mom Kassidy only ever thought of him as a brother. They both wanted nothing more than happiness for each other. They only had each other at that sad excuse of a school and they didn't want anything to get in the way of their friendship.
The bus arrived about ten minutes later and they both got off.
"Ew school" joked the blonde boy.
"I agree whole heartedly with that statement. " Kassidy replied.
Both of them entered the school and went to their lockers, they were glad that their lockers were located beside each other. Sadly there was still an hour before school started but it was either having an extra hour to themselves or being late everyday because the busses are always too full.
"Did you finish your history essay?" Cody asked while leaning against his locker.
"Yes mother I did. And I stayed up until two in the morning to finish it."
"Ah so that's why the bags under your eyes look so dark. Makes sense."
Kassidy have him the death glare as she closed her locker. "Thanks for the encouragement."
"Anytime."
They went to sit in the hallway against the lockers that were close to their first class. They both had science first and luckily they were in the same class for it. The day has only just begun and Kassidy already wanted to go home. She was thankful that she had Cody to help her get through this hell.
They had a bond that was almost impossible to break. They both knew that. And everyone else did too.
