Matthew was cornered, and had nowhere to go. Sledge slowly walked forward, savouring the fear in Matthew's eyes, like a predator cornering its prey. Matthew looked around desperately for an escape route, anything that could get him out of here.

And then he saw it.

Argent was the weak link. He had no weapons, defense, or anything protective. Matthew would only get one chance at this, and he had to time it perfectly, or else it would fail.

One, step, two steps, three-NOW!

Matthew pounced at Sledge. Bullets whizzed past him, but he couldn't stop. Sledge's smile quickly turned to fear as he realized Matthew's plan. He turned to run, but Matthew caught him and out him into a headlock. Sledge's unflappable calm was nowhere to be found, and his face was rapidly turning purple from the lack of oxygen. Matthew shouted, "If you want your boss to come out of this alive, you'd better put you weapons and armor down now!" The policemen had no choice but to obey him. Matthew quickly snatched up a bulletproof vest, a AK-47, a helmet, police vest and badge, and cuffed Sledge as well.. He then shouted, "If you don't want him to die, then don't follow!" Even Janice seemed cowed at Matthew's show of courage, until he dashed off leaving them at a loss at what to do. Matthew ran with all his strength, desperate to stay alive, leaving the policemen in the distance, slowly starting to come to their senses and start formulating a capture plan.

As he dashed throught the streets, smashing into passerby and careening off of the walls, his mind raced with thoughts of fear. He didn't even notice how far he had gone until he arrived at the junkyard.
His pace slowed, as what had just happened began to sink in.

Sledge laughed.

"You think you'll be able to survive? I can control everyone in this city. There's nowhere you can hide."

Matthew replied,

"Maybe not, but before they catch me, I can make you feel hell."

With all his strength, he punched Sledge in the face. Again. And again. Matthew was blind with rage, hate consuming his every fiber of being. He didn't stop until he realized that Sledge was unconscious, maybe dead, blood splattered everywhere like a grotesque work of art. He dropped Sledge, arms trembling, as he backed away. He looked left and right, wondering if anyone had seen him. Nobody. He turned tail and ran, not knowing to where, not knowing what to do. All he knew was that he was being hunted, and right now it looked as if there was no escape.
