One notebook.
Lost, then returned.
Two opposites.
Joined, but unknown.
Temporary anonymity.
Many friends.
A lot of noise.
Youthful nostalgia.
Desires to grow up.
Little moments,
becoming something more.

Heather Michelson is the most popular girl in her senior class at Hillside Academy. Yet she has never felt more alone. With only a few months left before graduation, Heather stumbles upon someone's leather-bound notebook after art class.
Intending to return it to its owner, she picks it up and brings it home with her.
Inside, there are pages of sketches and poetry. Finding it felt extremely personal. Invasive, even. And yet, she can't help but to feel understood by its anonymous creator.
With only an anonymous username attached to it, Heather takes a chance and messages them:
Hi, I found your notebook. I'd like to return it. But, I'd also like to say... it's incredible.

When Graham Landry loses the notebook he'd spent the entire school year writing in, it feels like his entire world might come crashing down. Boys his age aren't meant to waste their time with writing about their feelings. Not when he should be focusing on his coursework, social life and future in politics like a true Landry.
His father would have a field day.
A week after he misplaces it, a message lands in his inbox claiming to have found it. And also compliments him.
After exchanging messages for a week, he convinces the other party to leave it in the commons room at their school. Days pass after it is returned in his possession, and yet he still feels compelled to message the girl.
The two form a unique and anonymous friendship.

There will be many more characters in the story but ultimately, this book is about Heather and Graham and how they came to be. When I was, I don't know, 10 or 11, I read a book called TTYL by Lauren Myracle. It was one of the books that got me into reading. And it is what ultimately inspired How the Lost Get Found.
