Japanese Language Lessons - Counting Numbers 1-100 - Japanese Lesson 2
Now, we'll study how to count numbers 1 - 100 in Japanese.
0 - zero
1 - ichi
2 - ni
3 - san
4 - yon
5 - go
6 - roku pronounced as loku
7 - shichi/nana
8 - hachi
9 - kyuu/ku
10 - juu
Learning the basic 1-10 is the most important thing to know if you want to learn counting in Japanese. 11 and so on would be easy if you know the basics already.
11 (10 + 1) - juuichi
20 (2 x 10) - nijuu
21 (2 x 10 + 1) - nijuuichi
30 (3 x 10) - sanjuu
40 (4 x 10) - yonjuu
50 (5 x 10) - gojuu
60 (6 x 10) - rokujuu
70 (7 x 10) - nanajuu
80 (8 x 10) - hachijuu
90 (9 x 10) - kujuu
100 - hyaku *Remember this one, it's not juujuu. :)
I hope you learn something from this. Having flashcards and practicing can really help you, just like how you learned counting one to ten when you were a kid.
See you again on Lesson 3! :)
