I Missed You (Bucky x Reader)

~Chapter 1~

You had been best friends with Bucky and Steve since you were kids. Now, you were 25, Bucky was 26, and Steve was 25 too. Steve had always been like a little brother to you, since you protected him at all costs whenever he got in trouble because he couldn't physically protect himself. You on the other hand, knew a thing or two about martial arts and self-defense thanks to working at the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), even though you weren't the strongest person either. To be honest, Bucky was the one who ended up protecting you both at the end of the day.

You had just finished another typical day at work. You were currently working on Project Rebirth, along with your cousin Peggy Carter and Dr. Abraham Erskine where you were developing the Super Soldier Serum.

You and Steve had decided to go watch a movie at the theatre that evening after you got out of work.
You walk around the busy streets of Brooklyn, trying to find the address Steve gave you, when you suddenly feel someone tap your shoulder from behind making you turn around and jump in surprise.

"Bucky you scared me!" you say, looking at the handsome boy in front of you. He smirks and lets out a low chuckle, the kind that brought butterflies to your stomach.

"Sorry. Where are you going?" he asks softly.

"I'm going to the movies with Steve, but I can't seem to find the place." you chuckle and you bite your lip. "Do you wanna come with us?" you ask him.

"No can do, I got a date." he says. Ouch. For some reason, you hated when he went out with other girls. You kept telling yourself that you didn't have feelings for him, because you knew that if you admitted that you did, it would just break your heart to see that he didn't think of you that way. Besides, he had been your best friend for years, and you didn't want to ruin what you already had. So you kept denying your feelings, but you didn't know how much longer you could keep lying to yourself.

"Oh." it's all you're able to say as you look down.

"I still have some time left though, I'll help you find the place." he says, tapping your shoulder.

"Thanks, but you don't have to," you say. "I can figure it out on my own."

"I want to, and besides, you were looking pretty lost when I saw you," he says, making you roll your eyes with a smile. "What? You said it yourself. Come on, let's go." he says, and starts leading the way.

You follow him and surprisingly, you get to the theatre fairly quickly, and you see Steve waiting at the entrance.

"Hey Steve!" you call out to him before pulling your other best friend into a hug.

"Okay, I'm gonna go now. Don't get into too much trouble while I'm not with you, punks." your other best friend teases.

"We won't, jerk." you tease back making him chuckle.

When Bucky leaves, you walk inside the theatre next to Steve.

"It's getting obvious, y/n..." he says, referring to your interaction with Bucky. "When are you gonna tell him how you feel?"

"I'm- what? I don't like him, he's our best friend." you say. "And so are you, so, how was your day?" you ask, changing the subject drastically.

"Well... I got rejected from the army again." Steve says before a commercial about the war starts.

"Oh, Steve, I'm so sorry." you say. "Maybe it's for the best though. You just need to find something that you're passionate about too." you tried encouraging him, trying your best not to hurt his feelings. He doesn't answer, and the commercial starts playing.

Half way through it, a guy in front of you two starts yelling rude comments at the screen, but you try to ignore him, although it's getting hard.

"Who cares?!" he yells. "Play the movie already!" you look at a tensed Steve, and you're dreading what he's about to do next.
