Chapter 12 - Interview

The staff lead us to a stately private room.

Tegemi opens the door of the private room.

"We're coming in..."

"Yeah, ready."

She slowly opens the door.

Then...

The private room is narrow, but big enough to fit four people, there are two people sitting at the table.

When she sees them Tegemi smiles.

"Mom! Dad!"

She walks up to them, already sitting down.

"Long time not see, Tegemi." Said her stepmother.

(These two are Tegemi's parents, they kinda look young for their age.)

Her mother looks like a calm and sweet person.

(Ah! They're looking at me!)

"I-it's a pleasure to meet you , ma'am, sir." I said bowing my head and reaching for her mother arms and shake it.

Her father looks so dignified, rough, strict and looks kinda scary.

"Mina, I presumed." He said shaking my hands.

"Yes, sir."

"Well, don't just stand there sit down my knees are killing me."

I realize that I am the only one still standing.

"Yes, sir."

"Are we in the army?" he asked."

"Stop calling me sir, I'm not your superior your Tegemi boyfriend are you not? You should be calling me dad from now on."

"D-Dad." Said Tegemi while looking at me a bit embarrassed.

I sit down next to Tegemi who turns to her father and starts talking.

"Mom, dad I'll introduce you."

"This is my partner. Minamino Kitagami."

"A pleasure to meet the both of you,"

When we greet each other, Tegemi turns to her father and smiles.

"Awe what a diligent young man." Said his stepmother.

On the other hand...

(If looks could kill, I'd be dead by now by the way his father is glaring at me.)

"You can't just say nothing." Nugged her stepmother to his husband.

"Fine, Thank you for coming today."

"Don't let the tough guy façade bother you he's just happy to finally meet the two of you." Said her stepmother smiling.

"Misako." Called out his stepdad.

Her father continues to stare at me.

"I hear you're a university student?" her father peeved.

"Yes, that's right."

"Wouldn't you being a student hinder my daughter's work, or are you planning on freeload on her stable income.

"Dad!" called out Tegemi looking troubled.

"Mitsuko!" called out her step mother hitting his husband lightly in the shoulder.

"Have you thought about your future?"

"I understand your worries Sir'..."

"Dad." His step father corrected.

"D-dad, and I know how amazing and successful Tegemi is, I may not look much right now, and hardwork might not be enough to reach the pinnacle of Tegemi's success, but I'm his boyfriend and I won't let my social position hinder her and I had never cross my mind to ride on Tegemi's success.

"That's an amazing answer, but words mean nothing until you have proven it." Said his Step father.

"Pfff!!" blurt out Tegemi.

"EHehehe." Giggled Tegemi's step mother.

Tegemi and her mother are desperately trying to contain their laughter.

Then when I look closely.

(Huh?)

(Hey father's eyebrows are quivering?)

Is he laughing too? Or is he angry?

"Mina, won't you relax a bit?" said Tegemi.

"Ah, yes..."

I look at her mother, laughing softly, and relax a little.

"And dad would you please stop with the tough guy act." Said Tegemi.

(Tough guy act?)

"That's right, Mitsuko, are you trying to push our future son in law away?"

(Future son in law?!)

When all returns to normal, I look at her father again.
