Wise words from those before,
Yet as a kid I never listened,
I thought you don't know what you mean,
But in the end they knew best
It's hard to equate life,
From the standpoint of another,
So you disregard the warnings,
Thinking you have the answers
Until life comes at you full circle,
Revealing that the experiences,
Of those who walked your path before,
Was a prelude to what you'd see
They took the punishment,
And the blows so you wouldn't,
Heed the advice and knowledge,
That those before you give
Because why walk in the fire,
If you don't have to,
Why sacrifice your life and spirit,
Just to try to out manuever your destiny,
So to those who have the answers,
I advise you to listen to your elders,
For they've walked your path,
And they're trying to save you from falling.
