Understanding you

Shuuichi couldn't help but to look over at Rantarou in awe. Truth is, he could barely consider him a friend. He met him through Kaede, who was good friends with both. Shuuichi never really knew Rantarou very well. Rantarou always sort of intimidated him with his mysterious nature, his brief explanations, and his unexplainable actions. It didn't seem like he had ill will, he was just hard to read that it unnerved Shuuichi to an extent. It was rather surprising too when Rantarou asked Shuuichi for his help. Out of anyone, it was him. Someone he didn't know very well. He could recall Rantarou joking about it being a way for them to bond. Shuuichi reluctantly accepted, hoping it was true.
Now here he was, seeing the real Rantarou. Seeing how kind and caring of a person he truly is.

He was wrapping things up with Chiyo before he got distracted. He felt Chiyo looking at him, trying to figure out his thoughts at the moment. "Hey!" She said to get his attention. He turned to the girl and apologized. Shuuichi finished the last of the problems with her. When Chiyo closed the book, she looked at Shuuichi as he was about to get up. "Hey, can I talk to you for a little?" She asked as she rested her head on her hands. "Eh..? Why?" Shuuichi asked. "Just curious about some things." She murmured. She looked back at him. Shuuichi sat himself back down. "W-what things..?" Shuuichi asked nervously. For a moment, Chiyo's sudden shift in nature started to remind him of Rantarou. It made sense, she is his sister.

"Do you like big brother?" She asked and Shuuichi felt his face get red. "N-no! I-I don't know him v-very well..!" Shuuichi stammered, almost fall in off his chair. Chiyo began to get flustered. "N-no! I didn't mean it that way!" She exclaimed, now sounding embarrassed for her wrong choice of words. "I mean as in, you appreciating him in a way." She elaborated as she calmed herself down. Shuuichi let out a sigh. "Well.. I was a little scared of him at first.. Now, I can admire him in a way. You know, seeing his actual self and all." Shuuichi explained. Chiyo looked down at the desk with a small smile. "Yeah. I can understand your first impression of him." She replied. "Really?! B-but he's so kind to you guys!" Shuuichi said in shock.

"Yeah of course! But y'know when you first meet him, he's all mysterious and stuff. My scenario isn't much different from yours other than the fact that I live with him now." Chiyo explained. She shifted her head to only one hand and began to trace circles on the desk. "You want me to tell you some stuff?" She asked as she looked up at him. "O-only if you want.." Shuuichi sheepishly replied. "Don't be nervous!" Chiyo reassured with a smile.

"You see, my step parents found me in a distant village in Hokkaido. I was an orphan living alone in a small hut. I don't recall what happened to my actual parents. Apparently the girls at my village said that they disowned me because I was female.." she began, keeping a distracted smile on her face. "I'm so sorry.." Shuuichi said but she shook her head. "It's fine! I don't really care!" She said with a big smile. "Anyway, so they found me when they were traveling. They adored me on first sight as I guided them on the village. I was only 8." Chiyo continued to explain. "So they adopted you..?" Shuuichi asked and Chiyo nodded.

"They brought me back with them. I lived with them for some days before they officially adopted me. When I first came, I met big brother. At the time, it was him, Hana, Kana, Aira, Marie, and Haru." Chiyo said. "So what was he like..?" Shuuichi asked. Chiyo laughed lightly. "Well, he was like how you first met him. He was all mysterious and quiet. I didn't understand him and I was immediately scared. It was almost to the point that I didn't want them to adopt me." Chiyo explained. "Did he speak to you?" Shuuichi asked. "Yes, of course. Like anyone else, he asked where I was from and how his parents found me. At the time, I was sensitive about it so he didn't pry me. He never pushed me and I was a shy one. He always kept his necessary distance, wanting me to open up on my own. So I guess that's why I was so intimidated by him." Chiyo continue to explain. She then shook her head as she saw a possible question on Shuuichi's face. "It's not like he ignored me. He still tried to include me in things such as movie nights or other small activities. He even tried to pet me on the head or hold my hand sometimes, though it was awkward since I was so hesitant." She said as she closed her eyes. "But why would that make you afraid of him?" Shuuichi asked. Chiyo shrugged.
