More than a sore throat.

Run! I yell to myself. I feel like I am running. Yet I feel like something is pulling me down. Breathe I tell myself. Breathing trying to catch a breath that I never lost. They are right behind you! My body aches in adrenaline to flee. Yet my captors have caught me. I feel a sharp pain through my throat. Then I feel it. I feel the vivid pain of my throat being ripped out little by little, inch by inch. I struggle and try to scream and all I feel are hands enclosing on my mouth and an unforgettable face looking down upon my own. Then darkness flooded my vision. I wake up abruptly gasping and searching for something, anything to grasp on. My hands flew up to my throat. Not a single scratch. I pinch myself. Though I've got no idea what good it would do from the pain of that... dare I say dream?

Light seeped through my curtains forcing me to stand and go to the bathroom. After washing my face I look at myself in the mirror.

A pale, blotchy, tear streaked face with dark eyes and hair matching a bird's nest greeted me. I always did look like a vampire no matter how mundane I am.

My alarm rang out reminding me that there was still a full day ahead of me. I take my usual shower and while getting dressed I think about the dream I had. The pain in my throat felt so vivid, and so very real. It felt as if the person was trying to steal my voice. Pushing the dream down to the depths of my mind I finish changing and get my breakfast ready.

Cereal, toast and juice like always. Not, necessarily in that order.

Stepping outside I'm greeted with the strong scent of a rich, petrichor signaling that it would be a rainy day. With this in mind I hurried to the local bus stop before downpour.

Of course fate had other plans.

Not looking as to where I was going I ram head first into a person. I fell back and then looked sheepishly as I gathered the person's face.

"I-I'm so sorry, it's been a hectic day and it's about to rain so I was rushing," I stop to take a breath and get a look at whoever I ran into, "Rushing," no, "to..the," the same ravenous black hair, striking eyes, it started to rain. Hard.

Then absolute horror dawned on me. It just, it couldn't be, how was this possible? It simply couldn't be The words left my lips before I could stop them and pointed an accusing finger at it.

"You're a monster"
