Blaine took a small step to his left, holding the door open for the other boy to walk through. The pair entered the coffee shop, joining the short line of people in front of the cash register.

"The Lima Bean. 'Just outside of Westerville', huh?" Kurt remarked in a jokingly mocking tone. Blaine looked down at the floor and laughed, putting his hands in his pockets and pulling on the material with his thumbs.

"Okay, so maybe it's a bit farther than I led on," he admitted with a smirk.

"A bit?" Kurt exclaimed. "Try 80 miles." Blaine's smile grew even bigger, seeming to get satisfaction out of every word that came out of the other boy's mouth.

"Well?" Blaine asked after a few moments of silence, creating a look of confusion on Kurt's previously grinning face.

"Well, what?"

"What do you think? It's cozy, isn't it?" Blaine questioned with wide eyes. Kurt's expression then changed to something darker, a look that Blaine couldn't quite read. He almost seemed... scared. "Kurt?"

"Huh... yeah, it's nice," Kurt mumbled, snapping out of his brief trance. Seeing Blaine scrunch his eyebrows and tilt his head to the side, Kurt decided to give in and add on an important detail. "... And it also happens to be the number one hangout spot for students at my old school."

"Oh, wow... small world!" Blaine stated, a bit of confusion showing through in his tone. Why hadn't Kurt mentioned that earlier? The taller boy half-heartedly nodded, thankful for a distraction when the woman in front of them moved away and it was their turn to order.

When Kurt and Blaine both had their drinks in hand, they moved to grab a small table-for-two by a window that looked out to the front parking lot. Blaine knew that if he was going to ask Kurt to take part in his plan, now was his chance. So why couldn't he get the words out? Kurt, noticing the other boy nervously fiddling with his cup, decided to go out on a limb and ask what was bothering him. After a short moment of hesitation, Blaine responded, "Well, I kind of have a favor to ask you," not taking his eyes off the medium drip coffee in his hands.

"Okay... could you be more specific?" Kurt replied with a small chuckle. However, he was quick to remove the smile from his lips when he noticed that Blaine wasn't laughing.

"Well, I have this friend," Blaine began slowly, finally locking eyes with the boy across from him. "His name is Sebastian, and he... well, he's sort of... into me."

"Okay..." Kurt repeated, his eyes widening.

"I'm just going to be direct about this," Blaine stammered with new confidence. "Sebastian asked me out, and to avoid having to go, I lied and said that I already have a boyfriend." Kurt's mouth opened slightly, but then closed just as quickly. Eager to defend himself, Blaine continued, "I know it was stupid, I know that. But he's my best friend, and I just didn't want to hurt him."

"Wow," is all Kurt could say.

Blaine sighed. "Okay, I see that look on your face. Feel free to judge me."

"No!" the boy blurted immediately. "That's not it at all! I guess I'm just a little confused. You want me to be... your boyfriend?"

"My pretend boyfriend, yeah," Blaine confirmed.

Kurt's cheeks turned uncontrollably pink. "Right, yeah, that's what I meant."

Blaine let out a deep breath before muttering, "Look, Kurt, I know I'm asking a lot of you. It's just that Sebastian is expecting to meet my new boyfriend tonight at dinner, in..." then, checking his watch, "7 hours. You're kind of my only hope."

Kurt took a long pause to study the other boy's expression. The desperate look in his golden brown eyes told that he was being sincere, and frankly, that face was hard to say no to. Letting out a dramatic sigh, Kurt finally gave in. "Fine, I'll do it. Now put those puppy dog eyes away."

Blaine dropped his head and laughed. Taking note of this, Kurt decided he liked the feeling
of making Blaine happy. Was it normal to feel that way about somebody you just met three hours ago? Kurt wasn't sure, but he decided to brush it off, focusing on the task he had just agreed to do.

"Alright, so, how do I prepare for the career-defining role of Blaine Anderson's boy toy?" Kurt questioned, causing Blaine to giggle once again, this time even harder. In that moment, Kurt knew that even though this whole thing might be a pain in the ass, it was totally worth it.
