Chapter 1

CHAPTER 1

"My name is Dr. Stephen Strange." The man explained, pulling Nico through a series of portals, "Not long ago, this building became a battleground. The Ancient One perished. I took her place. I have heard of Loki. He is on our threat list. Now, can you please explain why I should help him?"

"He's only a threat, because he's under the influence of a dangerous Asgardian relic referred to as the Casket." Nico explained, "If you help him then there's one less threat to deal with."

The man stopped jumping through portals abruptly. Nico wasn't phased, "Fine. Very well." He paused, "How are you still standing? Most people who go through portals that fast without warning at least stumble."

Nico sighed, "Shadow travel is much more... disorienting."

"That's Dark Magic. We don't allow that here..." Strange said abruptly.

Nico glared, "I'm a son of Hades, so it's considered Black Magic. Black Magic is when a creature of darkness possesses an ability that is natural to them, and Dark Magic is when a sorcerer forces an unnatural ability that is related to the darkness, the underworld, or a dark creature."

Strange looked at him in surprise, "You seem to know a lot about sorcery."

"I know the concepts, theory, and facts. I know very little actual spells." Nico explained, "Loki let me read his Magic books."

"Ah." Strange nodded, "I guess that makes sense." He paused, "Now how about we arrange a living space."

Nico nodded in response. Another portal opened, and the two stepped through it. Nico smiled with determination. He would save Loki. He had to... Loki was his best friend.

8 YEARS LATER....

Nico was in the library, reading another book on the Casket. He had found his answer two years ago... only Loki could break out of it, and even then, he would be slightly different. Nico couldn't accept that, so he had searched as much as he could. He still couldn't find anything else. Abruptly, Dr. Strange appeared in the room with....

"Thor?" Nico stood up, "What are you doing here?"

"What are you doing here?" Thor said once he got his bearings.

Nico gestured to the book, "Trying to help Loki, remember?"

Thor nodded, and suddenly a portal surrounded them. The three of them were in chairs.

"Loki is on our threat list," Strange stated, "Please explain to me why you brought him here?"

"We are looking for our father." Thor replied.

Nico's eyes widened, "Strange... please tell me you didn't find him..."

Dr. Strange grimaced, "I kinda forgot to tell you." He turned back to Thor, "So, if I tell you where he is, you will leave?"

"Yes." Thor responded.

"I'll go with him." Nico decided abruptly, "It's been eight years, and I haven't found the answer I'm looking for. Perhaps I can help Loki break out of it on his own."

Strange nodded, albeit a bit sadly, "Very well." The three of them went through a few more portals. Strange took a piece of Thor's hair, and suddenly they were in front of a couple of large doors. Strange opened another portal using Thor's hair.

"My brother?" Thor prompted.

"Oh!" A look of realization crossed the sorcerer's face, "Right!"

A portal was opened above them, and Loki fell. Nico noticed his eyes were blue, and a wave of sadness filled him. Loki charged at Strange, and the portal suddenly was flying towards them.
