Baekhyun remembers a time when he thought he had lost Chanyeol forever. That memory haunted him every now and then, causing him to produce a silent scream and his hands to fly up to his ears, trying to block out a painful noise that never occurred. "Don't leave me!" He screamed hysterically as Chanyeol rushed over and rubbed his back. Baekhyun never cried that hard in his life. The whispers of Chanyeol comforting words only did much as echo through his head. Baekhyun was traumatized. He experiences these every now and then and he somehow wishes it would stop but it doesn't. It's like his mind was programmed to think that way.

Baekhyun followed Chanyeol through a mass of trees, hugging Chanyeol tightly from behind if he ever thought he saw something. Black figures perhaps. "Baekkie ah, don't be scared anymore, the world isn't anything you have to be afraid of." Baekhyun felt a huge weight lift off his shoulders as he let go of Chanyeol's waist.

At least. Chanyeol silently thought to himself. Not yet.

A soft stroke across Baekhyun's jawline shook him awake. "Was that how you really looked like?" He thought he saw Chanyeol smile through his useless pair of orbs.

"I'm handsome aren't I?" Chanyeol teased.

Baekhyun laughed softly.

Chanyeol pinched his cheeks and took a deep sigh. "I may not be always here for you Baekkie ah. But in your mind, in your imagination, I always am. Remember that okay?" Chanyeol stroked his head, fingers running through the delicate brown strands of hair. Baekhyun nodded. He didn't think Chanyeol would leave him anyway.

Or would he?

The very next day, Baekhyun to awoke to several different voices speaking outside his room. He stretched out his arms and ruffled his hair, sighing at the same time. He heard a familiar voice shout from outside, "WHY?!!"

Baekhyun slowly crossed over his room to his door, and felt the familiar wood under his fingertips. He carefully leaned forward, slowly pressing his ear against the cool door.

"Why should I?!" Kris shouted.

"Dude calm down!" Someone said.

"Please! I'm really desperate! I can't leave him alone especially when I promised I wouldn't." Chanyeol pleaded.

Silence.

"Please?"

The other person spoke up again. "Just do it this time, I don't mind."

Kris sighed.

"Just pretend that you are me okay?" Chanyeol pleaded again with a hint of tiredness to his voice this time.

"Fine."

The second time Baekhyun went to the rooftop, he wasn't with the person who bought him there in the first place.

"Where did you go?" Baekhyun spoke coldly to Chanyeol after spotting him at the same spot, leaning against the tree. Chanyeol looked up apologetically at Baekhyun. "I'm sorry...I had something on." He apologized. "Close your eyes." Chanyeol spoke after a moment of tension. Baekhyun obeyed. "Now open."

Baekhyun was greeted immediately by a gentle sea breeze and the sound of waves crashing against the soft sand.

He gasped. Baekhyun immediately ran and laid down in the sand beside Chanyeol. They both gazed up at the crimson sky together before Chanyeol finally spoke. "You're...not mad at me anymore are you?"

Baekhyun grinned and shook his head, causing the sand underneath his head to fly off in different directions.

Chanyeol turned to Baekhyun's side. "Thank you." He whispered before gently brushing off a loose strand of hair that had gotten into Baekhyun's eyes because of the breeze. Baekhyun body suddenly turned warm and he turned back to face smiling Chanyeol. Perfect was not enough to describe that moment. It was brilliant.

Baekhyun felt a tap on his shoulder. "Are you done?! You know, I'm here to babysit you, not to watch you sunbathe out here on the rooftop." Kris scowled. Baekhyun's face turned red. He muttered and apology before following Kris back down the stairs.

------------

There was once when Chanyeol went out for really long. Baekhyun sat waiting by the door, tracing random circles in the cold marble floor. His heart wondered where Chanyeol was and he already longed hard for him. He tried telling himself comforting words. Few more days Baekkie. He almost cried at that all too familiar nickname.

3 days passed. Baekhyun shook his head, knowing that Chanyeol would come back for him. A few more hours Baekkie.

Weeks passed and Baekhyun has already lost track of time.

Maybe...

Baekhyun forced himself not to think of such things but it slips out.

Maybe Chanyeol ran away from me. Far far away... His mind was starting to wander.

and he won't come back, Baekkie.
