I settled for the seat by the window as I heard him start to play the piano. The blaring noise now had stopped and slowly people are beggining to leave.
The hushed footsteps and him playing the piano.
Everything felt so peaceful.
"There's glitter on the floor after the party." I heard him as he started to sing. My heart fluttered, but my mind scolded it.
"Girls carrying their shoes down in the lobby." I dered not to look, for I know it'll only worsen my admiration for him.
"Candle wax and Polaroid on the hard wood floor, you and me from the night before but" However I did not heed my own warning, so I turned my head and looked your way.
With his eyes closed, he sang the chorus.
"Don't read the last page, but I'll stay when you're lost and I'm scared that you're running away." He looks so into it, as if singing to the love of his life.
"I want your midnights," but my heart ached. It can never be me, you don't even know me.
"But I'll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year's day." He opened his eyes and they met mine. Quickly, I looked away and tried to pretend as of the window I was beside was so interesting.
The music stopped, and I heard your footsteps.
You are making your way to me.
"Kisses, right?" My heart jumped, trying my best not to look stupid I turned and smiled. "Yes, and you?" Wow Kisses, really? You don't know his name? Gahd. I want to laugh at myself so bad.
"Donny." He said and smiled, it was so bright it could warm up the whole room.
"Did you enjoy the party my little sister threw?" He asked, still his eyes on mine.
"Well, not really. I meant no offense right there, I'm just not really fond of parties." I said trying not to sound too flustered.
"Don't worry, we have the same exact thoughts." He said and laughed at my statement.
"So Kisses, how was my little performance of a Taylor Swift song?" He asked, it was as if he knows how much I love her.
"Well, it was really good. Why didn't you finished it?" I asked, both his voice and his skills of playing the piano was more than good it was captivating. But I won't let that out of my mouth.
"Want me to continue?" He asked, and he even seemed shocked. I just nodded in response.
He smiled and offered his hand.
"Why?" I asked as I looked at him, confused.
"Well, would you like to seat near me so you wouldn't get too tired of standing right here? And besides, its much better to play the piano with someone who appreciates the music you make." He said, is it just be or he looks kind of abashed?
"Okay then." I said shortly and made my way to the sofa near the piano.
I did not take his hand.
Not because I don't want to, I just don't think the time for something like that is just too early. Why am I even over thinking?
He's just being friendly Kisses okay?
Calm the hormones down.
"You squeeze my hand three times at the taxi," he started as we were both settled. "I can tell its gonna be a long road." He eyed the keys as he played and sang.
There really is something beautiful when you watch someone do something they are passionate about.
He looks more wonderful like this.
"I'll be there when you're toast of the town babe," he lifted his eyes and once more our gaze met. "Or if you strike out and you're crawling home." Why is everything about him so beautiful?
"Don't read the last page, but I stay when it's hard or its wrong and you're making mistakes."
I don't know what got to me, I just found myself singing along with him.
"I want your midnights," his smile only widened more than I thought it could, as he realized that I am singing aling with him.
"I'll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year's day." We both smiled as the song was done, and as if there was a joke we only knew of we laughed.
"We should do this often." He remarked as our laughs had slowly subsided.
"Yeah, I think we should." I agreed and realized that maybe going to unwanted parties ain't so bad at all.
