ZACH
Jonah insisted I did physical therapy before I got my prosthetic leg, even though I told him repeatedly that it was not needed. Though, he didn't listen and just had to make an appointment. "I'll be right here with you," Jack smiled, holding my hand as he wheeled me towards the car. "But-" "No buts Zach, you have to do this so you're more comfortable and confident when they give you the leg." Jack argued, helping me into the seat. I hugged and shut the door, zipping my seatbelt on and turning away from Jack, not wanting to talk with him. "Baby, come on. Don't be like that," he pleaded, pitting his hand over mine. I pulled it away, scooting closer to the door. He stops at the light and kisses my cheek. "Can't be mad at me forever," He smirks. "Shut up. I'm trying to be mad at you," I respond, trying to stop myself from smiling. He kisses my ear and starts to drive again, since the light had turned green. I smiled and punched him lightly in the shoulder. "I'm supposed to be mad at you but how can I be when you keep finding ways to make me smile?" I question, smiling wider. "Because you love me," He responds, grabbing my hand.
We park in a spot and Jack helps me out of the car, quickly bringing me to the wheelchair.
"Appointment for Zach Herron," Jack says to the clerk. She nods and leads us into a strange room where a small group of people were. "These are the people you'll be having therapy with, since they have similar injuries," the lady smiles. I nod and wheel my self over to the rest of the group, smiling and introducing myself. I recognized one of the girls, she was fairly young and had a purple streak running through her hair. "Maya?" I question, seeing her head whip around at my voice with bright eyes. "Zach!" She beamed, wheeling herself over to me. I stared at her legs when she came insight, only to see both of them gone. "Did h-he do that?" I ask, grabbing her hand. She sniffles and nods, looking down at her lap. I grab her hands and smile at her. "He's not going to hurt anyone else, I promise. I'll make this stop." I say, squeezing her hand tighter. She nods and let's go, wheeling next to me.
After the session
I see my handsome boyfriend walk through the door with a smirk on his face, turning into a giant grin when he sees me. "Hey baby, how was therapy?" He questions, kneeling down so he can be at eye-level with me. "It's was good. I- can we talk in the car?" I ask. He nods and I wave goodbye at the reception lady while Jack wheels me out the door. He lifts me into the passenger seat of the car and heads over to the drivers seat, sitting in it and shifting his body on my direction. "What happened?" He questions, hesitant for an answer. "M-Micah. He, he hurt his sister. His own, little sister. Both her legs are gone! Because of me!"
"ITS MY FAULT, JACK! It's all my fault..."
"It's not your fault."
"But it is. Jack, she's in that state because of me. Because I was too scared to tell the cops about this boy. Because I, I am a coward." I sigh. Jack grabs my hands and kisses them. "It is not your fault. You never would've known that he would do that." Jack consoles. "But I did know! I know what kind of person he is and I could've stopped him! IF I- if I just told the police the truth, we wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be here, like this," I say, pointing at my leg.
Flashback
"So, tell me what happened, Zachary."
"You can call me Zach. And... um..."
I hesitated and started biting my inner cheek.
"You can be completely honest with me, Zach. If you tell me what happened, I'll make sure he'll never hurt you again. Whoever he is."
"I...um..."
"Let's start with a simpler question: do you know who your rapist is, or what he looks like?"
I didn't know what to say. I was so scared. What if he came back for me? What if he tries hurting me again? So many questions flowed through my mind before I finally said something.
"To be honest officer, I don't remember much. I just remember getting into a car and h-him stripping me and-"
"Okay. If you remember anything please give me a call and tell us what you remember okay?"
"Okay"
Flashback over
"IM SO STUPID JACK!" I shout. "No you're not. When you're ready, you can tell them." He smiles, kissing my cheek. "Now, lets get home before the boys think we died or something," He chuckles, starting the car. "Okay." I respond, gripping on to his hand.
