The Lonely Voice

Can I tell you a secret?

I'm lost, tangled, afraid

by the web of voices inside my head.

Their raspy words are malicious

and I can no longer bare

to keep pretending

they're not there.

So I let them speak

and I let them scrape

at the parts of me

that are pure.

Till they too

are tainted

and blue.

Will you lower your voice.

Look past the thoughts I cannot control.

Touch my heart with your eyes

and listen to the lonely voice

that has been silenced

by the monsters in this world

that is no longer balanced.
